New WLVQ-FM/WHOK-FM/WINK-FM General Manager

Is it true that Dan "Boots" Longenette of Autosmarts4u.com is the new GM for Q-FM-96? If it's true what radio management experience does he have to run 3 stations?

He might be a good bottom line / cash flow manager. Does not need radio experience for that. Radio has moved deeper into the dead zone.

I believe you are right that he is Market Manager.

Personally I think he'll do a killer job. Not like WILKS is losing anything by rolling the dice to see if he can do anything for them...way to mix things up a bit, maybe some fresh ideas and approaches.

I'll be watching.

Wilks doesn't employ a General Manager or Market Manager, I don't care what's in his title. He's a sales rep just as the last 7 or 8 "General Managers" have been.

And that is called the business of Radio, if the station doesn't make money they wont be there long.

Revenue way down again this year for the Wilks Columbus so Dan "Boots" Longenette was given the boot.

Despite revenue being down... I hope they find some funds to get a generator for the new studios they are building off Cleveland Ave... That area was without power for over a day with our most recent storms.. (was back on this morning but was out still last night).

I expect them to cheap out in every way possible. I'm not sure they can go without a generator however.

mxyzptlk, you seem to know a lot of what's going on over there. Are those idiots seriously going to keep Country on 107.1?

As far as i know there is no talk of switching.

I for one am sad to see that he had such a short leash. Dan is a GREAT GUY...he did focus on too much change too soon...brought his pals in and fired a few others...that said, I think if he would have had another six months to play his plan would have caught on and they would have really benefited from having him in the building and running their stations.

While WILKS is cheap, I was impressed when I got the opportunity to tour their new digs out in Denver. They moved from a Class A building in the heart of downtown to a Class A building a few miles away. Grant it the new building has lower rents then the sky rocketed prices in downtown Denver. Just a FYI Denver has some eye popping commercial real estate prices, even older buildings in Denver rent for 2 to 3x as much as the newest building goes for in Columbus, That said the finishes and studios in the new building exceeded my expectations for WILKS. Maybe they will do the same in Columbus? Im not sure if WILKS has a backup generator in the new building in Denver, I know their old building the former Denver Post tower had backup power; but in Denver most everything developed after 1970 all has underground electric. Its not uncommon for Denver to get 70-80 MPH winds so the utility companies out there learned a long time ago to bury their stuff.

While WILKS digs in Denver were impressive, Lincoln Financial Media studios in Denver takes the cake for the spiffiest studios I have seen in quite some time, no other cluster in Denver, not even CC or Entercom compare to Lincoln's digital palace. I don't even think CC or anyone else locally here in Columbus has the bells and whistles that Lincoln has in Denver; everything being top shelf.

Hmmm...yep. Sounds like a GREAT GUY!
