New WRXP Positioner: Just "Rock"

Look for a billboard campaign...

I believe there were billboards already rolled out for the original "experience" - these are going to have to be some neat billboards y'all must be working' on...

They were suprisingly up in West Milford Promoting their station for some Airport thing at the Greenwood Lake Airport but that was before their switch to Rock 101.9 RXP though. They seem to be a hit up here I guess.

Unless they promote the "Tune in to win $1000" contest, they're wasting their money.

Here's how the station markets: if they get marketing $$$ from Emmis, they do it. If can't or don't, no marketing.

We all know that marketing a station makes a difference in the ratings, but everyone around here has bought the line from management (including the new OM, who was formerly director of marketing for the NYC cluster) that if there's no budget, their hands are tied.

I beg to differ: there have to be ways to generate effective marketing results without spending money. It just takes ingenuity, creativity, and talent.

Well, I wish you and the gang at WRXP luck in this next phase - and how bold of you to act as an "insider" and give us the 411 on 101.9. ;)

You yourself said there was going to be a billboard campaign, didn't you? What will the billboard say? If it talks about music, it won't make a difference. If it talks about giving the listers money, it might work.

If Emmis' budget is as tight as "WRXPInsider" suggests, the billboards might be as unbelievably simplistic as their new positioner, and could just read "Rock... 101.9 RXP." No artists, no bells, no whistles... But I'll wait until the next billboard is erected...

IMHO, it's an unfocused and desperate hail mary pass: the idea that a billboard campaign will result in a surge of new listeners tuning in the station is simplistic and unrealistic. I don't know anyone who became a consistent P1 listener as a result of seeing a station billboard. I don't respond that way to a billboard. Is there anyone here who does?

We're all sniffing ESPN LMA in the not too distant future.

Looking at the list of recently sons recently played on WRXP, there seems to be a reasonably interesting mix of current and older mainstream and alternative rock. There may be a few songs that are too classic rock, but most of the rest appear to fit.
