New WSB Lineup

I was a die-hard WSB listener in the days of Hannity afternoons. I needed SB's traffic in those days.
With GoogleMaps, I'm not sure I need SB's traffic enough to take Arum's "Stress-free" fluff 5 days a week.
I'm going to see if a in-dash SiriusXM fits a '67 Pontiac.

Arum and Word are +1 hour from this - I think think is good for both of them.

I feel bad you had to listen to Hannity in the afternoons . . . I would have sat in traffic for an extra hour each day to avoid it.

I got an ancient XM receiver to work just fine in my '99 BMW; I am sure you can find a newer solution that works in a '67 Pontiac.

I've been kind of, well, stunned that Premiere Radio continues to run sound bites of Rush after 5 weeks, and that with over a year's notice, apparently have not come up with a replacement for him.

Last week there was news of a couple of small market stations that announced replacements for the noon-3 slot. It was just a matter of time until bigger stations started doing the same thing.

Premiere Radio's loss of WSB has to really sting.

Who could Premiere come up with who would be better than an established local host? It's really hard for Cox to give up valuable inventory to a competitor. I think Entercom will feel the same way soon.

I imagine Premiere discussed all the options before Cox made the announcement.

I'm not shocked that they haven't named a permanent replacement. It's the clip shows that are perplexing to me.

Mega dittos.

At least Premiere is not going to force small stations to pay the fee for Rush From The Dead. The stations received invoices and were then told to trash them. Which surprised me, as I figured that was half the reason for prolonging the clips shows.

I wonder if I-Heart will throw in the towel on the noble, but unlistened WBIN, and try to retool 640 with Rush and whoever is the ultimate replacement. When a station is pulling .1's there is no place to go but up.

I'm guessing that WSB considered putting the EIB Network on the AM and Erickson on FM...if only to keep "Rush" away from some class C/D. Maybe Premiere wouldn't let them do that.

I'm very surprised that Premiere didn't have a show ready to drop in or move to 12-3 ET by now like, say, Levin or Hannity.

From what I gathered BIN was a play by iHeart to get national advertisers to pony up to show how P.C. they are. How is WBIN doing in-demo? How is BIN doing in other cities, also in-demo?

I'd love to hear what the marketeers at Entercom are saying to those advertisers re: WAOK, which is kicking WBIN's fanny.

640 has become iHeart's AM equivalent of Cumulus's translators...throw something against the wall and see what sticks.

Whatever they do be it re-spreading, turning over, or re-broadcasting (EIB) Excrement-In-Broadcasting, the result will be the same - it will still stink.

Keep in mind that BIN isn't a traditional radio network. Here's how they explain it:
Instead of traditional ad supported media, BIN is enabled by the support of National Founding Partners who share and support the mission of BIN: Black Information Network. These partners are Bank of America, CVS Health, GEICO, Lowe’s, McDonald’s USA, Sony, 23andMe and Verizon.

Surprised Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham or Bill O'Reilly haven't allowed their names to be floated, even if there's no interest. Those are the only three GOP types with a national footprint and capable of creating a little buzz.

Laura and Bill are under contract.

Laura's radio show pre-dates her TV show. Bill's radio show is only 15 minutes.

You would solve no problem by moving Hannity and leaving afternoon drive to fill. Levin's high-pitched screech in midday? Imagine walking by somebody's office and hearing him screech about lazy teachers. There is no heir apparent, and no one was going to hold all 600 stations.

There is no heir apparent, and no one was going to hold all 600 stations.

What Rush did was pick a couple of guys who were his regular fill-ins. Todd Herman and Ken Matthews. They filled in while he was sick. They're still there now hosting the post-Rush shows. They are the anointed ones, along with Mark Steyn. My take is that what you're hearing now is the transition. They will slowly play fewer old cuts and more of Todd and Ken.

They're both under contract.
Sean Hannity is under contract to iHeart, so he could be moved around. (I was mistaken about who syndicates Mark Levin--he's on WW1.)
