New WSB Lineup

My guess, when it was clear Rush would not be back, that Neal Boortz would be considered. I know he retired, but could have been enticed ($$) and do the show from Naples, FL.
No, forget Boortz. Bring back The Kimmer

Is this temporary? Erick Erickson just posted on Instagram that he’s praying his back to back regional/WSB shows won’t last past April. He’s previously said he wasn’t going to stop his regional show.

Premiere's biggest problem is they're moving on too late. Lots of big stations around the country already dropped Premiere's show.

They would not have carried an iHeart show regardless of who hosted or when it was announced. This marks 90 days since Rush passed, so stations now have the option to drop the show.

In today's radio world, there is no such thing as one big host who covers all markets and all companies. The radio companies are each big enough to do their own host.

Cox announced today that they will syndicate Erick Erickson nationally. So obviously this is permanent for WSB:

Does that mean the Cox stations that are taking that show out of Jacksonville have to clear Erickson?

Here's what RBR says about that:

For some non-iHeartRadio affiliates, including those owned by Cox Media Group, sticking with programs built around archived audio clips of the late Limbaugh wasn’t something they desired. This led to CMG-owned WOKV-FM in Jacksonville moving market veteran Mark Kaye to Limbaugh’s old slot.

Now, CMG has made a move at its flagship News/Talk property in Atlanta that can be replicated at other stations across the U.S., should it wish to defect from Premiere.

Erick Erickson, the midday host at WSB-FM 95.5 in Atlanta, is heading into national syndication.

So it sounds like they will put Kaye back in his previous slot.

Looks like the famous 12-3 slot occupied by Rush (and most listeners), will now be very competitive.
Buck Sexton...Dan Bongino...Erickson..

Todd Starnes.,..Dana Bash, who knows who else? Will ANY iHeart station break away from Travis/Sexton.

I was amazed Sexton was only 39....it's like he was filling in for Rush in the 90s.

Dana Loesch is the syndicated talk show host, Dana Bash is on CNN. There's also John Gibson from Talk Media Network, and Jimmy Failla from Fox News Radio in the 12-3 slot.

I think all iHeart talk stations will air the new Travis & Sexton show, except where another station in the market already has Limbaugh (and presumably right of first refusal on the new show). But with Cumulus and Audacy bailing out, that's probably not very many stations.

I'll stand corrected on the Danas, There are markets where iHeart doesn't have a News/Talk station, with Chicago being one.Cumulus, Audacy and Cox will be bailing out, so that will leave a smaller footprint for the remaining iHeart show.
