New Year Predictions

So it's a new year any predictions on format changes for Cincinnati or Dayton? Going out on a limb is part of the fun of New Year predictions so go for it!

Dayton--iHeart has 2 less stations so I don't see anything happening. I think everything stays the same.
Cincinnati--Cunningham or McConnell announcing retirement? We'll see how the new morning show holds at WGRR.

The latter wouldn't surprise me. I think at least one of them will announce his retirement this year, and my gut says it will be Cunningham. I enjoy parts of his show and WLW will have big shoes to fill, but he's been teasing a retirement announcement or at least floating the possibility out there for a few years now. Willie still has his fastball, especially as an interviewer, but he will be 77 this year.

Here is my own take going WAY out on a limb. I heart will flip WKFS 107.1 to simulcast 700WLW and move the CHR format to the translator at 94.5

Its interesting how the guys on the "hip, new, young" WLW are past retirement age now

Haha yes it is. I think Cunningham, McConnell, Seg and Brian Combs might be the only on-air personalities left from when I'd hear WLW with my dad and/or his buddies, often going to Reds games but sometimes just listening here in Columbus at home or in the car. I loved Burbank when I was in middle and high school.
@BruceB's prediction is interesting too. I wouldn't be surprised at all if WLW goes to a full-power station. I don't think they'd totally chuck the iconic "700 WLW" branding in that event, but you never know.

I'm not sure they would have to WCBS still goes by News Radio 880 even though they're on a full power FM

I’m not quite sure that saying every other sentence that the person he’s talking to is a great American is a fastball. But maybe one’s mileage differs.

Eh, maybe at some point but probably not this year.

CHR on FM seems to be waning as its younger listeners opt for streaming. But, for now KISS 107 gets iHeart Cincinnati some younger demos, especially females which they need since most of their Cincinnati properties skew more heavily male.

Okay fair enough but how many of those young females are listening to Kiss 107 on an FM radio they're listening via app on their phones.that's why I suggested moving the broadcast to the translator since most of the audience isn't listening to FM anyway.

I agree Cunningham has become a parody of himself

When he is interviewing, say, Mike DeWine or someone on his Sunday night national show with a more serious tone, it's usually a pretty good interview. That Cunningham is different than the one on the Stooge report, Wednesdays with Willie, etc. IMO.
