Nexstar drops "Live Well" on their stations

Well, when WPTY 24.2 and WJKT 16.2 first went on air in March/April 2011, they both started out as the Cool TV. They dropped the Cool TV in July 2012 for Live Well Network, but it seems strange that it hasn't even been there for one year and they've already dropped it. I wonder what they would put on there next?

I hope you're right about that. Unless you have a really good outdoor antenna WMC has a very poor OTA signal in Jackson since they're on RF 5 and their tower is closer to downtown Memphis rather than East Memphis or Bartlett like most other Memphis TV stations, which would be better for Jackson. They've applied to change to a higher channel, but I agree it would make sense for Raycom to buy the Blue Moon station and use it for a translator.

On the contrary, how good a signal can one get on WBBJ or WJKT in Memphis or anywhere in Shelby County? I'd like to know because I'd like to be able to watch WBBJ's news and be able to have more syndicated choices on WJKT.

16.2 is still a black screen. still hoping for nexstar to give us something good.

I've heard Nexstar wants to put the same thing on 24-2 and 16-2 which would minimize options as most of the "good" subchannels are taken already in Memphis (This, Antenna, Bounce) and we all know about the MeTV issue.
Maybe TNN on both?

Also wonder if Nexstar might try and wedge in the 2 hour My programming like they do on 30-2 on 16-2?

I'd think that for Nexstar to move Me-TV to WPTY could be done with very little problem. The biggest problem is what will it take to get Me-TV from WBBJ? I wouldn't put it past WBBJ to try to hold on to Me-TV just to keep WJKT from getting it, even if they never do anything to make it a full subchannel.

I know that Dodgeman posted in an earlier thread that Me-TV had said that if WBBJ didn't give them more time by January that they would leave, So I'm still hoping that Me-TV will drop WBBJ and move to WJKT.

i wish they would leave WBBJ. them telling me that could have been just a bunch of hogwash. its still there for a whole 3 hrs per day.

why would they do that? Both CW30 and ABC24 use about the same power and the exact same antenna height.

Bahakal is too cheap to do any improvements to their stations

I wouldn't say that. Back in January, WBBJ got a new set for the news. First new set in 10+ years, at least.

Er, what? They just spent piles and piles of money in Montgomery building a MUCH better transmission facility for WNCF, and replacing the encoding gear for both WNCF and WBMM, and other upgrades.

They need to upgrade wbbjs equipment then. Give us metv full time on 7.2 instead of SAP that is not on there 90% of the time.

exactly and that is what I was getting at. Upgrade to allow a 2nd subchannel on there and get rid of the SAP thing. I'm sure folks arent THAT lazy and can hit the SAP button on their remote if they want Spanish language on ABC.

I agree. But will wbbj do that. Probably not

The SAP audio-only channel on 7-2 uses exactly zero extra bandwidth and almost zero equipment, and there is no reason to get rid of it.

we're well aware of that. Its been posted a few times. So create a new subchannel as dodgeman says. But I guess that would be sticking money into a station and according to previous post they already blew their budget apparently with a new news set.

and when the news is on you can see people walking behind the anchors. I guess the new set is transparent.
