Next big AC hits

Is it still mostly the CBS ACs playing "California Gurls"? I agree it sounds both out of place in October and on the AC format in general.
Well, some Clear Channel AC's are, namely Lite FM NYC (which is hardly the representation of a typical American AC, they play Chris Brown for crying out loud) and the few that run premium choice. B101 is still playing it. Then there's WDOK/Cleveland, KEZK/St. Louis, WLIF/Baltimore, all which are CBS.

What do you all think of Michael Buble's song "Hollywood?" I don't care for it. Just seems rather....noisy.

I can't say I've heard it, but Michael Buble songs seem to show up on my station regardless of how the music sounds.

I tried to listen for a title of one song that was particularly bad on the more conservative of the two ACs, which is definitely not conservative at night (not counting the really soft 70s music which must be what annoys some people) . I remember only that the last two words were "no surprise", and I remember "the reason" but not in a position to think that's the title. Besides, I think "The Reason" is the song that was blasting in a restaurant when I decided to leave it three or four years ago. But whatever it is, it belongs on hot AC. And it followed Lifehouse's "You and Me", which I've heard of only because "Smallville" fans are so crazy about it.

It's "No Surprise" by Daughtry, typical of them, nothing but noise that all sounds the same. Seriously, "What About Now", "No Surprise", "Life After You", whatever...they all sound like the same thing!

Side note...I like Taylor Swift's "Mine."

Several weeks ago I heard the intro of a new song and just from your description I was able to guess it was "Hollywood". That was it! I think that was the first time I was able to identify a song I never heard before so quickly.

I actually kind of like it. It's refreshingly cheesy. Oh well, we won't hear it again until after the holidays.

Correction to my above post. "You and Me" was in the lyrics, but I heard the song on "Don't Forget the Lyrics" and it has a different title and artist. Neiter of which I can remember now. The first word of the actual title may have been "No".
