Nik Carter

"Disco" Nik does do voice overs. We've gotten postcards from him about doing work.

It was on Allaccess today. I tried congratulating him but the Mods are filtering any post that might be considered offensive.

I suspect this post will be deleted as well for merely presenting that fact.

WBOS radio needs to get ideas and talent from THE RIVER. They can get Ken Shelton and Mark Parenteau and Clark Schmidt to do imaging as well and it isn't going to help the product.

WXRV does such a better job at AAA and more. WBOS is your AAA version of KISS 108 or WBCN. Generic. However, my opinion is that the format has much more appeal when it is as presented by The River. That WXRV is independently owned and operated speaks volumes.

Especially the talent. The best part of the WBOS lineup doesn't even have a regular gig. They (or 92.5) would do well to give 'BOS part-timer Cindy Howes an expanded presence. She has a great sound, and she's really tuned in to the up and coming bands.

if you'd like to hear some of what she calls "the music you may have missed," check out her weekly podcast, updated Sunday nights, at www.cindyhowes.net.

They have hired WXRV's PD to be their md so looks like they are taking talent from the river. Neggy station VO guys are rarely at the station's they image. It is usually ISDN or Mp3. This has to mean the new Pd is going to tweak the station.

Good for Nik. Glad to hear that he's still in the biz. I, for one, enjoyed his shows.

What's the big deal? A lot of people do imaging for stations. Wasn't that individual banned from this board?
I see no reason to applaud someone for doing voice overs. Let him get a gig as drivetime and applaud him.

Nobody said t's a big deal but there's nothing wrong with congratulating someone. The money imaging guys are getting in markets the size of Boston is in some cases more than what a lot of drivetime gigs pay when you consider they often dont work more than an hour a month. Why do you think so many people are trying to do VO? the money is huge. That is something to congratulate somebody for.

Strokus Interuptus and Biday back on Boston airwaves????

I think not, the New Nik imaging will be quality fit for WBOS, after all, he came up with the idea for the leftover lunch.

There was a whole thread about who the KISS image voice just a few weeks back. So, to some people, it's a big deal.

Nik's status on this board is irrelevant. He is a former Boston air talent doing something, currently (or soon), on a Boston station.

By the way, have you ever been the image voice for a Large Market radio station? To some, it is a great accomplishment.

I hear JJ Wright doing the imaging for WBZ.

Good for J.J. He's a class act. Please note that WBZ is the same company as WODS and why these big corporations don't have more of their in-house talent doing the imaging is the question.

Actually, I think it was Kurt what'shisface who created Leftover Lunch ...

I dont think it was either both Nick and Kurt St. Douglas were both gone from the station when they started playing oldies. Think it came in during the Cruise era.

Neander I hear you on the software problem that was making any post mentioning a certain person mysteriously getting assingned to a bad hard drive on the server. FIVE of my posts mentioning him got assigned to bad sectors of the hard drive before this one stuck. It seems to be a system failure of some sort because several of my posts have been stored on that same hard drive it seems.

What other excuse could there be?

With all due respect, I have heard "leftover lunch" in some incarnation 25 years ago in Philly and 15 years ago in Albany. "Invented" might be a little bit of an optomistic term for playing old songs at lunchtime.

You're right in that it's a fairly common staple of rock mostly modern rock programming. Not too many stations well programmed stations are doing it anymore because some of the songs have become really old . A song from 1980 is now 27 years old making it almost classic rock worthy. "Flashback lunch", "retro Lunch", "time warp lunch" etc can be found all over the country. Big Bunny is right It is certainly nothing new.

agreed. Let's not credit the guy with something he surely remembers playing himself from his days at FNX in the early 90's when FNX was the only station in town playing a leftover lunch midday hour.

kurt st douglas!!! LOL. it's kurt st thomas.
