Nine FM DX

This morning I was listening to 99.9 (Park Forest) in Plainfield, Indiana.
Plainfield Indiana (not to be confused with Illinois) is 10 miles west of Indy.

The signals were fighting out with WTHI in Terre Haute, but they were very listenable.

I have picked up 92.5 WDEK in DeKalb a few times this summer, once for about an hour pretty clean near Bowling Green, MO, which is probably about 250 miles as the crow flies.

I know WRZA 99.9 had a reputation for going farther south than most Chicago FM's, probably because it used to be licensed to Kankakee and still has its tower further south of the metro. However, I never heard it when I lived in Indiana, or at least never when I was in Indiana (WTHI overpowered it). I did hear it one time when I lived in Indiana when travelling between Champaign and Bloomington. I hear it's fairly common to hear it around Champaign, but WTHI should still be the dominant station there.

I live in Gary Indiana and WRZA gets lots of bleedover from WHFB Benton Harbor Michigan because those 2 99.9's are short-spaced. I live on the edge of the primary contour. If I want to listen to the Benton Harbor 99.9, I just point the antenna toward Benton Harbor, but usually I point it toward Peotone Illinois so I can get WRZA in. As for WRZA having their 50kw tower near Kankakee, the station has to keep it where it's at if the station wants to keep their grandfathered short-spaced 50kw station. Otherwise if the station relocated the tower closer to the COL of park Forest, it would have likely been knocked down to a Class A, since the station is short-spaced with 99.5 & 100.3 in Chicago. I forgot how many stations they're short-spaced with, but I do know they're short-spaced with at least 3 99.9's.

WRZA makes it up to Kenosha, WI on a somewhat regular basis during DX along with WHFB Benton Harbor, MI and WJVL Janesville, WI. I was DXing WRZA and was able to record the format sign on last year. WDEK also regularly pays visits, along with WBWI West Bend, WI. 92.7 WKIE is a local for me.
