NEWS FLASH: "Jack" doesn't answer to you. They'll do what they need to do to be successful on THEIR clock, not on yours or mine or others posting on radio boards. When it becomes obvious that it's a demand inside each market, they'll do it.

That wasn't a newsflash, but the fact that you said "yours or mine or others" instead of just "your" makes it easier for me to respect the above comment.

I say:

This discussion has nothing to do with CBS FM. We aren't talking about that station. What does CBS FM have to do with this?
Edited by radiolover78 on 09/02/05 12:06 AM.

WCBS FM is now Jack FM New York.
I believe, being specific to that station, that I have do disagree with the "Jocks saying the same thing" and "Often listening to themselves" comments.

WCBS was better than that. I'm willing to accept that Oldies cat may be correct about some Jack FM's out there, perhaps, but to include WCBS, is just wrong.
An attack unacceptable.

don't think so

Hey, you moron- I never, EVER "attacked" CBS-FM in this discussion.

YezIknowradio was saying CBS FM jocks were better than whatever you said about jocks just telling about music or something, but I did not see any mention of CBS FM until he brought it up.

I was commenting on lazy jocks in general. Sheesh.

Ok, I was on your side just to let you know.

The problem is, that the comment Oldies cat made, was made without the understanding that not all stations had lazy jocks prior to going Jack...or at least that's the impression I got.

I'm just pointing out *a* station that went from good radio talent, to being Jack FM...that's all. If oldies cat doesn't like it, he could at least duely note that some stations that weren't Jack, didn't necessarily have lazy jocks prior to the switch to Jack.

Now, do you still think WCBS FM has nothing to do with this discussion?

jocks

not until you brought them into it. I never said nor was I implying ALL stations who were oldies before they went Jack had lazy jocks (goodness). Are we supposed to have a disclaimer with every post to make sure we don't offend somebody?

Re: jocks

You have to understand that oldies cat is servicing the rah rah parade for the dreaded format. If you have an opinion against it then you're an idiot, maybe you missed all of his drooling.

Now that I think about it...there were no Lazy Jocks at any station prior to becoming Jack.
Feel free to correct me, and make a list.

Jack

It's called being objective and giving a new format a real chance, unlike the cynical, critical and jealous types who see one or two down trends and are ready to proclaim the format a failure just because they don't like or get it.

jocks

has nothing to with stations who went "jack"- again (before your manipulation and twisting of my premise), I'm speaking of jocks in general. For you to deny there are personalities who just "mail it in" (for a variety of reasons)on a daily basis again proves how naive you are about the radio business.

I meant any station that went Jack. If it has nothing to do with jack, please, kindly refrain from using is as an example in making your point when one asked "Why Jack". Thank-you.

Then, with all due respect, Mr.Oldies cat, sir, Buffalo's Jack FM desperately needs you.

One thing I have to admit, Jack is the easiest format to program, but I work for a living, and enjoy real radio, with local, non voice tracked, radio personalities...wether they take requests or not.

Admit it. Jack is just an excuse to get rid of the bodies.
If they wanted to hire personalities, they would have done so by now.
They're just too damn cheap.
