No Live DJ's All Day on WCBS-FM- Bright Idea ?

I honestly don't know why this was an issue at all. What CBS-FM provided was a well produced specialty program of "fresh" material. Being someone whose own show was inspired by the great syndicated programs of the 70's like the original American Top 40 with Casy Kasem, Dr. Dimento and the King Biscuit Flower Hour, I thouroughly enjoyed listening to "The One Hit Wonders" throughout the morning, while I prepared my Thanksgiving meal, although I did take a break at noon and tuned into Q-104 for "Alice's Restaurant"! And for the person who complained about there being too much early 60's and not fitting the format? Gimme a break! Kudos to Brian Thomas for some great Turkey Day ear candy!

I remember passing Ron in the hallway at a station in Houston a few years ago when he told me he wanted to do a "one hit wonders" show and I Seconded That Emotion. Prerecorded or not, I'm glad he got it on the air -- and at WCBS. It's a great idea.

In most cities, TV has their regular anchors and reporters on duty
on Holidays. Why should radio be any different? A great station
always wants to be the best and get the edge on their competitors.
Most radio stations just don't want to WIN that badly, anymore.
sigh...

Because TV isn't radio, and TV is in the midst of ratings sweeps.

No radio station is going to WIN based on what they do on Thanksgiving.

And radio is in the middle of its most important Arbitron rating period of the year.
I wasn't just talking about Thanksgiving. There are a lot of Holidays in a year.
I want the edge with some "live" familiar voices on my station.

The one hit wonder show was produced for San Fransisco's KFRC 99.7FM/610AM in the 90's or early 2000's when Brian Thomas was PD and Ron Paker and Cammy Blackstone were KFRC mornig drive team. Sine both Thomas and Parker are now both at CBS FM and the special is owned by CBS Radio it proably made sense to run it on CBS FM

I think there is a scandal brewing on CBS FM.

The station cant live without live DJs who know the music format like they know your next door neighbor.

Time to bring back the real oldies music that former listeners have listened to for generations.

I don't know if it's the same program, as Parker used the CBS calls all throughout the show.

Duh, that is actually one of the great reasons my friends and I enjoyed listening all day. Very nice variety on CBS-FM. It all sounded like it fit in nice for me as to what CBS FM does. It had a nice mix with some late 60's and 70's tunes.

I think Ron Parker recorded new station intros to personalize for CBS FM. Considering that Cammey Blacksone his morning partner from KFRC was Ron's co host and not somone from CBS FM like Sue O'Neal and makes me think it was from KFRC. It was still a very enjoyable show.
