Women's golf has been at its lowest ebb in American fan interest in many years for some time now. The tour is dominated by Asian players, mainly South Koreans, and no matter how the LPGA has tried to promote them, it's been difficult for US viewers to embrace what looks to them like a production line of interchangeable, indistinguishable Lees, Parks and Kims. It was probably tough to get many affiliates to clear this tournament. At least NBC had E/I as a backup, better than turning the time over to the affiliates -- that most likely would have meant infomercials. The children's programming probably got just as many eyeballs as the golf would have, and that just might have been more than infomercials would have attracted.
