No More Personal Attacks - Discuss Boston Radio

Stop! THINK!

Hey Original Les,

you aren't the first person who has said that. If they want to screw with me the least I can do is entertain the troops. John Kerry should've taken my advice - but he won the election anyway fair and square. The conservatives stole 3 elections here and 1 in Mexico.

AKLES, the original LES wrote:

Ya gotta admit...with Joe the board boils. Without him would it even simmer?

Or would we be discussing why WBZ didn't replace Dave Maynard with O&A?

================================================================================

I brought the house down with Fox Pass a few weekends ago at the Kirkland, Les. If anyone wants to see my band, Grateful Ted is airing two of my concerts from 1985 on his cable show on a bunch of systems around here. Ted was in the band "Smuggler", I put them on the Bon Jovi show in Paradise back in 1983. Guess he's returning the favor. Nice guy.

Indeed JFK did win the election fair and square.

The one for U.S. Senate.

But since Massachusetts sends Democrats to Washington out of pure, mindless habit, I'm not certain that really counts. Even the JFK-like hair style didn't help all that much.

If Michael Dukakis had changed his name to: "John Fitzgerald Kennedy (Dukakis)" he might have won a presidential election courtesy of the star-struck bewildered.

But would he listen??? Nooooooooo!

I only post and re-post my escapades because those who attack belittle my work. The antidote to getting swift boated is to reply and not let them post lies that linger in cyberspace. You are right, even if I were on just one town on an access show it would make me or you a "public figure"; the fact that I write for national and international magazines and websites, that I write and have written for multiple CNC (currently owned by the Herald) papers, have been on the BBC and VH-1 most recently, certainly makes me more of a public figure than a weekend jock on WZLX, though they are public figures too. But "public figures" have rights.
The Rolling Stones used Lucille Ball's photo on "Some Girls" without permission accidentally on purpose - it intruded on her right to privacy and made the album a bit of a collectors item. They pulled her photo as they didn't have permission. People use my birth name here with lies, innuendo, defamatory statements, and stuff that is hardly criticism of my music. When they have criticized a song - Smoke went off on my "There's Nothing Like A Hit", as did someone who was banned, their criticism was not "critical", it was vicious and with no merit bordering on obscene. We can take John DePetro to task for using a gay slur - that's more objective than saying "awful song" just to be mean spirited. So I sang the song at the Tweeter Center and it went to #1 on the Boston Phoenix when they had the download sites - a legitimate #1 from my colleagues and Visual Radio guests tuning in. Still, as a "public figure" who has 30 years of recordings, I take the great reviews from Playboy, L'Attendant (Belgium - Best Record of the Month), Phonograph Record Magazine (Best Record Of The Month), and harsh reviews from The Boston Herald (Full page "Count Viglione Keeps Them Chuckling"), and the medium reviews (Boston Phoenix, "we know the Count is a legend in France, but the show at the Paradise was just ok" (paraphrased, my 2nd gig there 12/2/1978). Or back-handed compliments like Bill Tupper from The Boston Globe "You guys are brilliant at Cantones; why was it so bad at The Paradise". Constructive criticism keeps you going if you can improve. Having performed in Paradise 49 times, more than any other singer/performer in history (and being the last person on the stage at the club before it turned into the Paradise back in 1976 or 1977 or so...well...) that's a lot of years of abuse if the band is off and everything isn't just so. And when you don't have Bon Jovi money to hire an ensemble crew, there are going to be nights when the equipment goes haywire and the show will get leveled by critics

This is the problem with him, this thing could have been shorted to one sentance but instead its another 3 hour selfpromoting rant. i have been reading this board for years my posts may not show it (but i don't have to chime in on EVERY thing posted here) i've dealt with the man in question personally. it was the worst radio episiode in my career. and i still have the raving lunic emails from him to prove it. now he or his freind will respond to this saying im a "weekend DJ from NY" and i hope he does. because thats another case where he's allowed to insult a person because of thier career level, then when it happens to him it's "im being attacked i've been on this and that station" then it's cut to commercial

I write for national and international magazines and websites, that I write and have written for multiple CNC (currently owned by the Herald) papers, have been on the BBC and VH-1 most recently

im surprised he didn't include his ebay address so we could all buy his albums ::)

seriously though people who haven't deal with him other then a passing glance on a website (smart people) don't relize hes an angry bitter man that will haunt you with raving emails. thats why i don't use my name anymore then will start all over again. and im not writing this to bait him because he'll say the same this he always says "your nik,1000's watch my show,I've interviewed this person,iv'e been on this station" ect ect ect

by the way i would rather have have a weekend gig in NY than an unwatchable ( not an attack just my opinion or review) tv show anyday.

goodbye for now, i'll see ya next time JV attacks somebody personally then cries when it happens to him.

now on with the radio talk, what did howie do wrong today :'(

Attn Boston Moderators and Participants....

The Off The Air board is not the garbage
can for the Boston board.

Don't send your losers and troublemakers
there!

I am happy to observe that, despite our political and ethical
disagreements, the atmosphere on the OTA board is much
more civil than it is here in Kennedy country.

One of your malcontents posted a long, illiterate screed
on OTA, attacking the web site of one of you guys,
someone whose name begins with V.

Otherwise, you folks are welcome to visit out OTA board.

And, before you consider censoring this, it's probably
more on-topic than what either of those characters post.

Those two can go jump in the big dig.

Thank you and 73s.

As I see it, figures such as Oedipus and Howie Carr are fair game in a forum such as this.

However, way too often, certain members hi-jack threads with the objective of smearing these individuals based on professional and personal allegations, inspired by obvious vendetta. Just like I read the Enquirer in the Supermarket line, I am amused the gossip about these figures. However, I don't want to read this gossip when I believe I'm reading a post confronting actual issues related to programming/business of Boston Radio.

My point, if you have a topic related to these individuals, post it in a unique thread. Do not disrupt the flow and exchange of other ideas to perpetuate your vendettas.

Thank you.

Guess Sam Giancana wasn't around to help the OTHER JFK.

If Kerry was so much smarter than Bush, why didn't he beat Bush by Reagan-v-Mondale or Nixon-v-McGovern ratios? It should have been a landslide--what happened? Oh I get it;
in every state, there's trickery and stealing votes. Even in Gore's home state of Tenn. (had
he won that in '00, he would have won the election, Florida or no Florida) and
John Edwards' home state of NC...both went "red". Clearly it was a conspiracy

Black helicopters...
The TriLateral Commission...
Stolen elections

Ah.

Classic Kerry moment: told he might want to appeal to the gun crowd to win Ohio, Kerry goes
a-huntin'. "Can I get me a huntin' license here?" Didn't work...

Because most Americans don't vote for "smart". They vote for charisma. ('76, '80, '84, '92, '96).

When neither candidate has any charisma, they vote for the candidate who makes them the most fearful, and then makes claims that they eradicate that fear. ('68, '72, '88, '00, '04).

We're way off-topic of Boston radio now...

1964 wes the best example of the latter..... LBJ making people worry that Goldwater woulkd take away their social security and start a nuclear war. What a liar LBJ was.

Actually, Barry Goldwater had a lot of charisma, but it couldn't overcome Lyndon's scare tactics, and people's inertia since Nov. 22.

Wow! Everyone is so angry. Who's this Varuven guy who gets everyone so worked up anyway? It seems to be that if no one read his "War and Peace" rants about, you know, whatever, than no one would have to worry about responding.

Actual criticism: he writes way too much. Is there any regular member of this board who hasn't gotten his resume over and over again, ad nauseum?

Short can be, and often is, better.

Well, now Var is also the bane of the off-the-air board, too.

Thanks a lot.

A big juicy obnoxious bronx cheer to your moderator for sending him and his self-appointed critics over to OTA.

Please note: OTA isn't Boston's garbage can.

What a bunch of self-righteous losers.

Please lure him back here. PLEASE!

We have enough haters there. But OTA is still much more civil than this board.

Fortunately, he hasn't posted his resume yet.

954 hates Progressives. He's attacked people from this board relentlessly prior to my joining that board.
954 is angry that another voice is backing up Weee's position on that board. Too bad, 954. Go buy some of Moe Lauzier's home-made insect repellant and pour it on the guys you voted for.

And the nameless Managiing Board Editor, along with an unknown moderator have done a PATHETIC job at maintaining control of this whole board.  Who is in charge of the asylum???  Even this thread labeled DISCUSS BOSTON RADIO is totally derailed.  Nice job folks!  That goes to Moderators and you posters.  You ruin it for all. There are far abetter boards to go to!

How would I have known who is on this board, having had
no reason to come here until your motley moderator foolishly
sent you and your tormentor to OTA?

Quite illogical.

Have you forgotten that my first few postings about you
were defending you from that jerk who hates you and your
web site?
Then you became obnoxious about politics.

What a [EDIT]
Tell you what.... you stay on the Boston Board where your personality
quirks are appreciated, and stop attacking me... and I then will have
no reason to ever look at this board or your pompous postings.

I am forwarding your posting to the secret service.
That posting is an explicit threat to our elected officials.

The Secret Service just phoned me. They are afraid you are going to drink Moe Lauzier's homemade insect repellant. Poor Moe Lauzier - he sounds like he drank it before he went on the air.

If you took Rush's pills with Moe Lauzier's insect repellant....eeek. You might turn into..>Bill O'Reilly

You horribly malign the wonderful state that gave the nation Michael Dukakis and John Kerry and are now fixing to try to give us Mitt Romney. This could be interesting. Is the Great Curse based on the state they come from or their poitics?

You're right! I did overlook them.

But I also forget in which years each ran for President. Can you enlighten?

Why don't you take it to the off air board and leave this one for the radio people and the ones who want to talk radio. There's enough trouble here as it is without you infiltrating it. Do some of you ever even turn off the computer?

That's exactly what I'm suggesting.
You keep your Valvoline and
Brooklyn troublemakers and things will get back to normal on OTA.

And I'll have no reason to post here.

It's your irresponsible moderation on this board that started the
situation ... by sending them and their personal attacks to OTA.
