Dallas, St. Louis, Kansas City and even Pittsburgh are perfect fodder for it. Don't look for any localism. It will be fully syndicated, a selling point for BA. The station will be nothing more than a desktop computer at a satellite affiliate. The music will be the same, new millenium Muzak with covers of pop tunes and lots and lots of vocals. Smooth Jazz could be coming your way but it won't meet your "jazz afficionado" expectations. But at least the "format" will be there, even if the "music" won't.
Where did you get this information and where do you think it would end up? 100.3?? CBS seems to be all about the pre-packaged formats.
BA has been syndicating a version of smooth jazz since at least the beginning of the year, if not from late 2006. I understand that this is a supplement to BA's smooth jazz consulting services, and intended for smaller markets... although I see no reason why it could not be used in larger markets, too... or even on an HD-2 channel.
However, just because a format is available in syndication does not mean every market will pick it up. That's like saying that there is a new Bently dealer in town, so I have to buy a Bently (I wish).
