No oldies for 96.7...

So it won't be Shannon's True Oldies... But that doesn't tell me it won't be oldies at all. Maybe they lured Chapman out of retirement? ;D I can almost hear it now... "Ron-FM, playing what Ron wants" (OK, back to reality).

From what I got out of it is, they don't want to go up against KLUV.

I hate to argue with Street Talk ::) but Atlanta's True Oldies trueoldies1067fm.com is registered through godaddy the exact same way that trueoldies967fm.com is... ;D

HOWEVER...starting next Friday, you can hear MIKE Shannon's Really Truly Truest Oldies on KMNY-1360AM!

More to come!

Consider it a present from MRBI and "The Hi-Fi Club" to the veterans of DFW radio.

Format changes are so suspenseful. :)

Remember some of the WORST format changes? Those would be the ones where the station builds up all that hype just to reimage the thing and change nothing else. KYNG to KLLI, KMGC to KDMX, KNOK to KDLZ, KTXQ 94.5 to KSOC, KKWM to KLRX, etc.

The worst ones (for me, at least) who changed from something good to something unlistenable...KOAI to KMVK, KAFM from Top 40 to progressive country, KRSR/Star 105 to KYNG, KEGL from Sunny to La Preciosa, KEGL from The Eagle to Sunny, WFAA-AM from Top 40 to News/Talk, KFJZ from oldies to Spanish, KXOL from country to religious, KRBV from smooth R&B to Wild 100, KVIL from what it was to what it is now, KIXK to KTKS, etc etc etc.

It's not about *going up against KLUV*. It's about "there aren't enough Oldies listeners to support 2 stations (barely one, frankly).

Amen to that.

That means absolutely nothing. Any idiot with $10 and a credit card can register a domain through GoDaddy that way. For all we know, you were the one who registered trueoldies967fm.com.

Rest assured it was not me. I have better things to do with $10 - like put 2 gallons of gas in my car ;D

I do believe KLUV bills in the 15-20 million dollars a year neighborhood. So yeah, there's enough li$tener$ to support 2 oldies stations. Maybe not to the style that KLUV has become accustomed, but that's a lot of money. Which means they have a lot of listeners that advertisers want. Which means it's probably cost effective to go after them.

And I agree with whoever pointed out that saying we're not doing scott shannons oldies doesn't mean they're not doing oldies.
