No One is at Home at 'DJO

I worked for Taft in 1975 and walked into the little studio with a couple of young ladies for a brief tour. Mister Barry greeted me with "we don't have the facilities for a studio audience and would you kindly leave?". So NDXU, add me to the list of folks who were polite to Pat and was treated in a less than courteous manner.

Likewise - That's a big 10-4!

Bob, I understand your point. I think the "bigger" he got on radio the more full of himself me became. It was sad though. I saw him in Mt Adams in the 1980's sitting in a bar just waiting for folks to recognize him so he act insulted that they bothered him. A different guy from what he was in 1974, that's for sure.

FRR, I knew of people and people in radio that were much bigger than Pat Barry and they were very polite and nice, including someone who was #1 in Chicago. Barry is just a rude a$$.

I remember some great people in radio...and nice too: Gary Burbank,Dave Mason, Mike Nuegent.

(hey this is supposed to be a DJO page....we got off course like DJO does in the evenings...LOL)

I can bring it back for ya. Tuning into Imus in the car this morning...heard dead air. Checked back a couple of times in the 6am hour...nuttin. I didn't have their phone number to call them, so just tuned to WABC out of New York.

So yeah...nobody's home.

I was blessed to do a 6 hour shift on WLW in 1983...and was relieved by none other than Gary Burbank. What a gentleman. Fortunately, I've run into more nice "radio stars" than I have the Pat Barry types.

JRY the last time I could see non subscriber numbers, Imus had crazy good TSL. It was much higher than the rest of the day. Cume was good too, but a little lower than midday. This time of year though, signal problems really hamper morning drive.
And Imus just signed a multi year extension. Believe it or not, the old guy's not going away.

I know. I had the first crack at signing up Imus. I like the guy but, this was right around the time that he said he had prostate cancer. I thought that he wasn't going to be behind the mic for much longer and didn't want to sign him up, promote the show with billboards and such, only to lose him.

Well, Imus may need a new Cincinnati station soon after looking at the previous post.. Wow!

I found out yesterday that Imus does not comp any stations, anymore.

Might be why their affiliate count is so looooooooow.

Interesting. Wasn't aware Imus was providing comp. Are any of Talkers top folks through Imus providing comp in general or key markets specifically?

1. Rush Limbaugh 14.75+
2. Sean Hannity 14.00
3. Michael Savage 8.75+
4. Glenn Beck 8.25
Dave Ramsey
Mark Levin
5. Neal Boortz 5.75+
Laura Ingraham
6. Jim Bohannon 3.75+
Jerry Doyle
Mike Gallagher
Michael Medved
Doug Stephan
7. Bill Bennett 3.50+
Clark Howard
George Noory
8. Alan Colmes 3.25+
Thorn Hartmann
Rusty Humphries
Dennis Miller
Stephanie Miller
Ed Schultz
9. Don Imus
Kim Kommando

Imus USED to back before the fall. I only know that because i took over an affiliate in Chicago and the check came to me.

Work is that Dial Global is comping some of the Miller stations. That is about all i know of.

Is Rodger K. still in control of the station?

It is a real shame what has become of WDJO. The music mix is terrible now.It sounds like whoever is putting together the playlists is simply playing.

This station can make some money and sound really good if you had the right people running it. WDJO never became part of the community like a local station needs to do.
They had good people like Marty and Dusty wasted. If your entire station has to be voiced tracked then give it up.

There are examples of local operators who know what they are doing such as Joe Mullins and and Classic Country in Dry Ridge.

You travel north of Columbus and you will find a number of local operators who really know what they are doing and making money and are an important part to their community. WDJO never achieved that.

FRR - Thank you for your comment.

I am still interested to know if anyone has the inside story of whether Rodger K is still running WDJO.

I tried to listen yesterday but I turned it off. I can't figure out who they are programming too.
