Not That '70s Weekend

I don't know what the KOOL-FM theme is this weekend (if there is one),
but I've been hearing a few more '60s songs since yesterday--and on a
weekend that's unexpected!

Manfred Mann (the usual)
Roy Orbison (also the usual)
Righteous Brothers (ditto)
Steppenwolf (one of the two)
Wilson Pickett (one of the three)

I think I even heard Jefferson Airplane, unless I'm confusing it with
a punch over to K-Slacks earlier.

And yesterday...Brown Eyed Girl. (Really? Really!)

Now all we need is James Brown and I'll absolutely feel good! :D

BTW, good to hear Katfish (with a K) Kris Kelly back on middays today,
and he mentioned he's back at 10 AM tomorrow. :)

So you're saying... 60s songs played today but not anything different from a weekday? EGADS!!! ::)

Of course, very rarely would there not be a weekend theme on KOOL, and though I'm a fan of themes, it's kind of nice to not have one when the same themes are over used.

Nice to hear Katfish is back!

For your 70s fix, may I recommend The 70's with Steve Goddard?

Or the 70's channel on SiriusXM Satellite Radaroven Microwave Radio. Sounds 'specially far-out in our '76 Gremlin Levi's Special....(though those brass rivets give the Nurse and me another kind of thrill) ::)

AHA! With summer approaching and the Media Hut short shorts being in style we should be able to identify you and the nurse easily thanks to those aforementioned brass rivets. ;D

No gracias to SiriusXM. KOOL's HD2 "That 70's Channel," yes.

Tried the KOOL 70s, no thx, SiriusXM 70s is much, much better and deeper!! 8)

...and unlike HD2, it costs you money to listen!

Back When My Hair was Short - Gunhill Road...

are you already playing that?

That ought to knock a few memories loose.

"Timothy"--The Buoys. Mmmm--tastes like chicken!

...since we're lingering here in the summer of '71, also: "Rings"--Cymarron.

Yo, Stevemeister:

We Don't Talk Anymore
Cliff Richard
late '79
Billboard #7

Just trying to keep those demos down while staying in the '70s!
PD Kris will appreciate it. Or maybe not...it's HD2. But KLL will
appreciate it! ;)

To get in the mood, Nurse Jeff and I put on our Mr T necklaces and play Float On by the Floaters.

................Cancer. And my name is Larry........

To get out of the mood, we play Bloat On by the Bloaters!

What 70 tracks do you want to hear that you're not hearing on HD2? I'd appreciate your suggestions. Thanks.

Abba- Does Your Mother Know
Ace Frehley- New York Groove
Addrisi Bros. - Slow Dancin'(Dont Turn Me On)/We've Got To Get It On Again
Al Stewart- Song On The Radio
Alan Parsons Project- Damned If I Do
Alice Cooper- You & Me/Only Women Bleed
America- Woman Tonight
Andrew Gold- Thank You For Being A Friend/Lonely Boy
Anne Murray - Snowbird/Dannys Song/You Wont See Me/You Needed Me
April Wine- Could Have Been A Lady/Roller

There are 10 plus just to get you started that I hear on the pay service that I havent heard on HD, will be glad to send more

I've not heard any discernible "theme" this weekend either,
mostly plugs for the $1000 CBS national contest. Moo! :D

What I have heard is Do You Love Me by the Contours,
from 1962. Twice.

Must be about the only pre-'64 song KOOL plays, and it's
still in something just short of power rotation. It is a good
uptempo song, so I guess it tests well. It's an Old Gringo
demo buster! ;)
