Nothing says LONESTAR like...

Has anybody noticed Lonestar has been running jockless?

Well, that explains why their dimwitted playlist is just "dangling in the wind". Get it? Thanks, I'll be here all week. Tip your waiters! :D

This is either pathetic or interesting, can't decide which. Out of that set, two of the songs fit well...on the playlist of the departed Memories 96.7.

So far today (and it's only 4:45 in the afternoon) they have played:
Eagles 7 times
CCR 6 times
John Mellencamp 6 times
ZZ Top 6 times
Stevie Ray Vaughan 5 times
Skynyrd 4 times
Bad Company 4 times

That is pathetic.

The only pathetic thing I can see here, is that someone has enough free time on their hands to track the number of times any particular artist gets played on the radio, and then posts it on a bulletin board.

You're no fun.

If I'm not not mistaken, trainguy, it's fairly simple to go to yes.com and track the songs that a station is playing. Would only take a couple of minutes for jeffdfw to come up with his figures.

Yep! Thanks for getting my back guys. It only took a few minutes on the station log. ;D

I am aware of that. By the way, yes.com isn’t always accurate. Be that as it may, it still takes time to review every hour of a station’s playlist, to come up with that type of information. Like the average listener is going to hear every one of those songs? And what do you hope to accomplish? "Oh dear, this one listener says we play too much of this artist… Better fix that!”

The point Trainguy is that they seem to be playing an awful lot of artists in heavy rotation. Since most radio listening happens (AM-wise) post 6am, if they played all those before 5pm, it's elementary math to figure out (Rough approximations) that they're playing the Eales every ~1.5 hours, CCR and JCM just under every 2 hours, SRV just over every 2 hours, etc...

And while they may not be playing the same song, hard to beleive that a station that claims to be playing a wide variety of music, that claims to not be playing the same old crap that makes you want to blow your radio away with a shotgun, is, in fact, playing the same old tired crap artists that make you want to blow your radio away with a shotgun.

And maybe he's not trying to accomplish anything, except point out what a craptastic station lone star is turning out to be. If they were going to play that much classic rock, why go through all the rigamarole of switching it to Lonestar, and then instead of playing Texas music, play a group of artists in heavy rotation that could have been lifted straight off the Bone's playlist...

Defining what is / is not crap is so subjective. So they play one group 6 or 7 times a day? As I said before, the average listener probably won’t hear them all. Here’s another way to look at it: a listener will more likely perceive an artist or song is overplaying, if they dislike that song or artist. Just ask Peter Z at KLUV about that.

I believe that was the point exactly... in the TV spot the DJ on the radio that gets blown away says "You like that one so much we are gonna play it again" then Cooter blows the radio away. If you are playing the Eagles in excess of 50 - 60 x/week you don't have a very wide playlist. A QUICK look shows they finshed off the day by playing each one of the aforementioned bands three more times each! Is this jus a continuous auto loop?

Just because YOU think an artist is being overplayed says the playlist isn’t wide enough, doesn’t mean the rest of the target audience agrees. Then you went back and looked again to count the additional plays? It’s pretty obvious to me you’re not in Lonestar’s demo. If you hate what they are doing so much, perhaps you’d be better off contacting the station directly. Running to a bulletin board and showing you have the time to track and post all this information, doesn’t accomplish anything worthwhile.

You don't need to come here on this board and tell us what we should be doing.....

The Topic is radio stations and what they play or don't play.

The Topic is not... the Posters of the Threads. If it was, the I would ask you if you are a corporate shill ?

Whe you get that straight, then we'll all have a nice day !

The KZPS playlist is umimaginitive. And that, is not subjective, that is fact.

Some... of us here like to talk about what would be the best musical offerings from a particular format.

Other here, do tend to keep going back to the "argeuemnt", that if the "masses" are not revolting, then that really means that they are well satisfied. -- That is as faulty a logic as it ever was...

Whoa…..! Slow down there tiger!

I never suggested don’t post playlists on this site. But posting a playlist and calling it pathetic or unimaginative (sorry, both are subjective) in itself is a waste of time.
