i am nowhere near phoenix, but i do listen to this audio stream, so i can't really comment on the local flavor.
but what i can say is that it fits neatly with what i have been reading from other people. not that i take everything of what they say at face value either mind you. i cannot understand how, in a decidedly democratic election, that this station in a large metropolian area couldn't find sponsors and in fact lost money.
from what i'm reading about the signal when it was on the air, it also fits with my theory of WHY prog talk fails even though there are listeners- a weak over-the-air signal and a poor ad sales team.
i don't really blame dr. mike for the ost network going down. he was trying to make the best of a very very bad situation. this is 100% squarely on the drobneys. everything in radio they touch turns to shit. i would say that they are the main reason that air america is really getting out of the radio business and focusing on media pushing. who was involved with air america at the very beginning? sheldon and anita drobney. those two simply do not know how to run a radio station. they could probably screw up a country station in the middle of kentucky that also was the big blow blue nation kenstucky wildcats in the area.
