Novelty Tunes

We should have some fun with thiis one! There were many popular and not so popular comedy records thru the years in pop, country, and even ethnic categories [polish, german, etc]. Lets see how far this can go...how about,

What is was was football- Andy Griffith
Who stole the keeshka?- Frankie Yankovic
Transfusion- Nervous Norvus
John and Marsha- Stan Freeberg
Delicious- Jim Backus

Little Egypt - The Coasters

Come to think of it, most of their tunes.

Never a hit, but Joe Donovan's show on WHAS Louisville played a novelty version of "Honeycomb", called "Telephone," sung by a guy in a Scandinavian accent. Does anyone know the name of the artist? Is it on YouTube? ("Telephone" is too common a word for searches.)

cd

Is it Telephone, by Boreson?

" Vell, I've got a vife & it's kind of funny, she's an ole sour puss but I call her honey.. everytime I come home...there she is on the telephone!... Telephone, Yakkity Yak, on the Telephone All the Time, vat a heckuva life, ven you got a vife on the T. E. L. E... Telephone!..

Those are the lyrics, yes, but Joe mentioned another name, like Ole something.

In "my" version, after the 3rd verse/chorus, which is supposed to be the end, he says "Let's do it yust one more time!" and into the final line.

Thanks!

Jimmy Dean, "I Won't Go Hunting with You, Jake, But I'll Go Chasin' Wimmen" ;D
I should have previously mentioned that this one was the B-side of "Big Bad John" (a novelty song itself) in case you are trying to find it. It's also my understanding that "I Won't Go Hunting" was the intended A-side, but that "Big Bad John" became the hit.

While we're at it, why no mention of any Roger Miller songs yet? "You Can't Roller Skate in a Buffalo Herd," although Johnny Knoxville recently tried to! ;D
