There was a recording put out in the early 60s of a kind of collection of broadcasting skits of dj and radio news people type of 'over the top' production of intros. This was put together for the entertainment of radio personalities at a convention. It went over so well, that a recording was made available to the public. I remember in the skit they would break in 'with a caos radio news exclusive' and there was a person in the background going.. du du du du du. I guess you would have to have heard it to appreciate.

Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie........ Brian Hyland
Double Dutch Bus - Frankie Smith

Mississippi Squirrel Revival - Ray Stevens (Truthfully, anything and everything by R.S. is/was a novelty tune)

It Ain't The Meat It's The Motion - The Swallows
It Ain't The Meat It's The Motion - Maria Muldaur

Yes! "They're Coming to Take Me Away." The flip side was the whole thing mastered backwards. Too funny!

Also not mentioned yet: "Dinner With Drac" by John Zacherle! A song considered so graphic at the time, many stations refused to play it. I love to drag that one out every Halloween.

I love to bring out "Dinner With Drac" every Halloween also. Even my 5 year old grandson like it.

being the Thanksgiving holiday is upon us, how can we not mention....

Alice's Resturant Massacree--Arlo Guthrie

also there was a song a female sang about the telephone installation man, he wound up putting it all over her house. sorry thats all I remember.

Ray Stevens did do some non-novelty stuff. In fact, 2 of his 3 number 1's were serious..."Everything Is Beautiful" and "Misty". But, I do love me some "Gitarzan" and "I Need Your Help, Barry Manilow".
