I like her but liked her better on the max. I bet djx will hire someone in the same vein as ben and mike shannon are. High energy, Just my thoughts on the matter.

HotP, for once, I totally agree with you! She fit the Max really well! And DJX should hire someone as good as Ben and Mike were. A voice-tracked Carlos on 98.9 has NO fun on his show!

I think she's ok.....There's potentially some good people for djx....a few former Lex folks come to mind....

Sarah Jordan will get the gig only because she's cute and cheap and is the "apple of the ops manager's" eye -- YUCK

Here is something to chew on:

Mainline is a well ran company, great from the top down. They are focused on solid operations, pay the dividends and be able to manage to make a profit. They are extremely focused on researching, which is rare a company does anymore.

Mainline got into a bad situation. If you think about it, they really underpaid for the radio one properties. What they ended up doing is buying the sticks. 76 million for 10 properties in decent sized markets is CHEAP! However, Radio One left the stations in major shambles. They left with negative cash flow, over funded formats and under performing stations.

So it makes Mainline look bad by coming in and making the stations profitable. Its not their fault, its the fault of Radio One overpaying and not doing the right thing.

Hey kentuckymedia do you think a) sarah jordan will get the gig permanently at wdjx b) will mainline keep 105.1 c) why are they playing more 80s on the max lately and early 80s at that ???I wish they would go slightly more modern
Thanks

With the move of Sarah Jordan to nights on WDJX

Personally, I feel that they will keep her there becuase its what was available and what they could afford. The Ben Davis morning show has been in the works for quite sometime. If they were rushing to get a new night show on, they would have done that by now. Remember, Mainline came in here with major negative cash-flow. So they have to "play it safe" until the numbers turn from red to black.

Will Mainline keep 105.1

Right now, the ratings may suck...and really bad. However, IT DOES MAKE MONEY. It may not be much right now, but a stick is still valuable no matter what format is on it. WLRS will most likely shift formats and squeeze some more money out of it if possible, but you must remember...there is still a large rock audience out there, you just have to find it.

WXMA adding 80's music

Here is where Clear Channel screwed up. The thought was by launching Louie, we will put a dent in the side of Lite and Max. But what ended up happening is they also put a dent in WRKA, saw the gold coming out the side of it and said...wow, we want a piece of this. So by doing that, they lost their "image" and "perception" to the audience.

WXMA completed the research study and found out that Louie lost their brand with the audience, and there is now a want for 80's hits. At the time, Max was focused on 90's and now. This is where you may find the future of WLRS. A station that plays the top hits of the 90's with new alternative. Maybe like a 99x in its heyday.

I have been told by several people at mainline and at other stations that wlrs is a very very very hard thing to sell and has not made money for years well no money to speak of. Remember when they flipped it to love 102.3 in 1999 and that massive demonstration down there at the bldg oh my god quite the sea of people i hope all 12 people enjoyed themselves lol pretty funny i guess louisvillians pick and choose there battles and this one for the most part was not worth fighting but then again those 12 peeps got heard bluechip brought it back and ruined it

It will be interesting to see how WDJX does minus Peter B. As far as WLRS goes, it makes sense that since they apparently operate it on barely a shoestring, it certainly shouldn't lose money. On the WXMA front, remember there was an all-80s format in Louisville before that did OK but was too narrow and wouldn't do near as well today with WLUE occupying most of that turf. As far as WLUE supposedly "losing their brand", there's not supposed to be "brand", from what I've read about variety hits stations. For the most part, they've successfully dented WVEZ (outside the annual all-Holiday music stunt) and kind of cornered WXMA- if WXMA goes too '80s, they'd lose what THEY are supposed to be all about and, let's face it: they can't out-"Louie" WLUE. WXMA does OK, they're also a unique station and shouldn't mess with their formula too much.

Is it me, or does 102.3 sound really bad with the obviously pre-recorded song IDs? I first noticed it a few evenings ago. If you're going to voicetrack a station, at least do it properly!

The did more then tweak wlrs which was an active rock station reguardless of what they reported as.They are now mainstream rock. Still an active rocker now with classic rocking also. Hope they get a good program director!!!
