NYC ARBITRON PPM RATINGS RELEASED: JUNE 2010

For the period Thu. 5/27/10 - Wed. 6/23/10, the publicly released PPM data for persons overall age 6+ can be found on the Radio-Info.com New York Ratings Grid.

The next ratings period is July 2010 (Thu. 6/24/10 - Wed. 7/24/10), with the publicly released PPM data for persons overall age 6+ available on Wed. 8/11/10.

Note: as of this posting, the ratings grid has the June 2010 data in the center column rather than the right column where they would usually be. To view the share rankings for June 2010, click twice on "Est %" under "June 2010". Similarly, to view the weekly cume for June 2010, click twice on "Cume" under "June 2010". Hopefully Radio-Info.com will clear this up shortly.

As it so happens, there's no movement of more than 0.2 shares for any station listed, with one notable exception: WPAT-FM-93.1, which moved from a 1.9 share in May to a 2.6 in June, undoubtedly due to World Cup Soccer match broadcasts.

Re: MIDDLESEX-SOMERSET-UNION, NJ ARBITRON PPM RATINGS RELEASED: JUNE 2010

For the period Thu. 5/27/10 - Wed. 6/23/10, the publicly released PPM data for persons overall age 6+ can be found on the Radio-Info.com Middlesex-Somerset-Union, NJ Ratings Grid.

The next ratings period is July 2010 (Thu. 6/24/10 - Wed. 7/24/10), with the publicly released PPM data for persons overall age 6+ available on Wed. 8/11/10.

Addendum/correction to my original/opening post (just to be precise!): in addition to WPAT-FM moving more than 0.2 share points, WSKQ-FM moved from 3.5 to 3.2.

An addition to the ratings grid:

Station Est % Cume Format Owner

WOGL-FM 0.1 85,400 Classic Hits CBS Radio

WOGL is at 98.1 on your FM dial...in Philadelphia! Have PPM, will travel...of course there are NYC stations that show in the Philly market, too.

Parts of Staten Island and the NJ part of the NYC market can get WOGL. I find it hard to believe that WOGL had a cume of 85,400 where its signal is weak.
The week of nearly constant tropo in June may have helped.

Often out of market station listening comes from people who like at the extreme edge of one market who commute or travel into an adjacent market area regularly. That listening is counted at the residential location, the basis for the Arbitron system.

Additions/corrections to the Middlesex-Somerset-Union, NJ ratings grid:

Station Est % Cume Format Owner

WPAT-FM 3.0 150,200 Spanish Lang. AC SBS
WPHT-AM 0.1 9,300 Talk CBS Radio

I can bet that CBS-FM would never show up in the Philly PPM, and likewise with WBEB here...

Of course around here no one mentioned that CBS-FM lost #1 overall back to LTW

Well, I guess the ride was fun while it lasted. But hey, the gap is still very small... it's conceivable that we could see the two stations fighting for the top spot for a while.

I'm paying close attention to 'PLJ.

Tony, why are you paying attention to PLJ? Something you'd like to share with the group? :) ... Of course, once again, WXRK is doing horribly, sigh... are they going to wake up anytime soon or what???

PLJ will get much more attention in November when Cherry Vanilla's autobiography "Lick Me' hits the book stores;
well,at least one high profile DJ will, from what I understand...

Tony said elsewhere that WPLJ would be a good choice to flip to a dance station because it's doing poorly.

Yes, by all means take a station that was top 10 in billings last year and put it into a format that has not succeeded anywhere in the USA.

(It was among the 30 highest billing stations in the US, too)

Saying stations are doing poorly when they are major billers is one of the consequences of thinking that 12+ numbers matter for anything.

He should look elsewhere because 'PLJ seems to be doing OK playing Nickelback and Bon Jovi, among their musical lineup. Yes, life isn't fair.

In other news, WPAT-FM should be playing more futbol with the numbers they got last month.

As long as 'PLJ gets high ad revenue, it won't matter what their 12+ ratings are. All they care about are those NJ and LI soccer moms. :)

They'll get another chance in four years when World Cup plays again.

:) not to worry, wcbsfm only went down very little, still I think they can beat LITEFM!! They have to WORK at it!!! like a baseball game, you win some, lose some!!!

WABC is trending down since April. Maybe listeners are finally catching on that the station is New York by COL only! WOR is barely treading water. Talkradio is non-existent in NY, unless you like national issues.

'RXP is up .2 of a point so I guess that means the rock format is catching on! It only means Emmis is putting off the inevitable. Jets' fans are stuck with another season on 1050 AM, a signal half their fan base cannot receive. Much of the fault for that lies with the team, but that's another issue entirely. Small and medium market NFL teams serve their fan bases better on radio than do the Jets! :)
