NASH breaks 1 million !!
While Nash's cume did rise, their overall ratings are stagnant at best, and down somewhat in LI. Their ratings among various demos have not changed much either, according to AllAccess.
Perhaps this is an indication that so far, their new chatty morning show may not be helping them.

not steribly surprised to see NSH's numbers level out around a 2 as I always suspected that would be their ceiling point, and I agree the morning show ultimately isn't helping.

Its says the NY market population is 15,573,500.

About how many of that # cant really get NASH that well due to their lower reception range ?

They are so nearby, they are actually part of the New York City Metro Survey Area... all five counties are within the NYC market. They are broken out as separate books due to demand.

As far as Nash, I agree that the morning show could have hampered the ratings growth. If people change the station in the morning, they may be less likely to change it back. Among casual listeners of the station, I haven't heard many positive things about the morning show. It seems like they may be reacting and adding more music. Not enough, but a bit more.

Also, I still have told people about the "new country station in NY," and the reaction of "What new country station????" is still more common than you'd think. They need to get their marketing ducks in a row.

Where the station seems to shine, in my opinion, is PM drive. Jesse Addy is far and away the best jock on the station (not slamming Blair Garner, but rather looking at the station when it is in "more music" mode). He's quick, fun and plays up the "new to NY" card extremely well. By NOT being from NYC, he makes himself extremely relatable.

Kudos to the crew at CBS-FM for continuing to do a nice job programming the station and obviously tailoring it to a younger crowd. Atrocious audio processing aside, the station definitely sounds nothing like it did when it returned in '07, which is probably helping its popularity among younger listeners.

The current (adjusted in October, 2012) 12+ population for the Radio MSA is 15,867,000 and the total population is 18,533,000.

An article in today's edition of InsideRadio states, "Mornings continued to be the station’s (Nash FM's) lowest-rated daypart while nights remained its highest." So perhaps Nash ought to finally hire a personality for the 7pm-midnight shift.
Another interesting bit of information in the article is that the station's audience has been attracting more listeners from the 25-54 demo, and has lost about the same amount from 18-34. I have noticed that the presentation on the station has been sounding a bit more mature.

The morning show needs to do away with things like "Nash Trash". I don't need to hear about celebrities having affairs and fathering children with other women (which I heard 2 days in a row). The show also seems too female oriented. They should make it more neutral.

I thought maybe CBS-FM would grab #1 this time, but hey, the gap between them and Lite is still small, so it could easily happen soon. As much as I personally miss the higher amount of 60's and "oh wow" songs from the first few post-Jack years, there's no doubting that current station is still very well-programmed with a great presentation that appeals to their target audience. Clearly Jim Ryan and company know what they're doing.

How about WSKQ jumping almost a whole share..

Inside Radio has an article today about Mega's current success. In July they were #1 18-34 and 18-49. And WSKQ was only .1 behind WLTW 25-54. They are also said to have the highest TSL in the market, at around 5 hours, and are well ahead of rival X96.3.
I find it interesting that they play a huge amount of salsa. I thought that it was considered old fashioned among the younger demos.
La Mega and WBLS were among the stations most negatively impacted when the PPM measurement system began. Now they are sitting near the top of the PPM's.

I always thought Mega leaned older while X96.3 targeted the younger demos. I don't listen to either station but that was my assumption.

BLS only does well by default. They are the only urban AC in the market since the demise of Kiss Fm.
The ratings would most likely be the same as they were when the PPM first came to the market if Kiss were still around. In general since PPM all urban stations took somewhat of a dive.
