NYC Arbitron Ratings: April 2013

http://mobile.****************/cgi-bin/rolmobi.exe/arb001

Overall age 6+ publicly released data is for the April 2013 survey period covering Thu. 3/28/13-Wed. 4/24/13.
Next survey period will be May 2013 (covering Thu. 4/25/13-Wed. 5/22/13) with the data release date being Mon. 6/10/13.

Note: error on the report in not listing WFAN-FM (& AM) - it came in with a 2.4% share and 1,313,300 cume.
If I notice anything else missing I'll post updates.

Z100 kickin it.

Wheres wfan ?

Still waiting for nash 3.1 by summer which starts next friday. ;)

I do like the nash playlist they do play all the hits.

It's possible that the figures for WFAN that I quoted (from AllAccess.com) in the opening thread starter post were from March 2013, not April 2013. Maybe their website updated right at 5pm ET which would have taken WFAN off the listings.

Just a guess on my part: CBS has decided to not subscribe WFAN for the month (maybe more months?), possibly to evaluate the AM/FM breakout on a temporary basis and see how the migration to FM is proceeding.

Maybe they would have reached that if they went Alternative, promoted the station and did not have the audio/signal issues. I like Country and although previously posted in favor of Alternative I am glad they did not make that move since the poor ratings would have been blamed on the format and not the crap audio and lack of promotion.

Unless it has been fixed (stopped listening since last post because of the audio), Nash is not going to go anywhere unless they fix the dam audio and promote the station.

'Nuff said about the accuracy of this report?

Arbitron does not provide the ownership (or the format names) for the data published on various websites. That info is placed in the listings by the site itself.

So the accuracy of the Arbitron data is not related to the accuracy of the other information a site may add to that data.

Summer, in the ratings world, begins with the July book, not June.

I agree that the audio has been very compressed. It has sounded somewhat less harsh in the last few weeks.
Nash did have some billboards, and signs in trains. My guess is that promotion will pick up after Nash FM's morning show starts. Cumulus may not want to heavily promote a station with this key element not yet in place.
The website, though attractive in appearance, remains very spare.

What stations did the NASH listeners come from? And has WPLJ inched up in the ratings at all? Maybe Cumulus is happy if somehow the station is helping WPLJ out a bit. I think it's been stresses quite a bit that this station doesn't have to be a homerun. It serves a promotional purpose for a nationwide brand. I still think 103.9 is the final piece to this puzzle, which will again be shifted to a format that helps WPLJ.

As are the numbers (pasted into the report.)

So the accuracy of the Arbitron data is not related to the accuracy of the other information a site may add to that data.

Hence I said "accuracy of the report" as opposed to "accuracy of the data" but thanks for pointing out the distinction.

Nash is helping the billboard country chart.

FGLs "get your shine on" will be #1 again next week with an audience of 40,702,000 (811,000 of which is from nash) & that is the largest aud for a song in 8 years.

insideRadio has an article explaining that Nash FM continues to make inroads among the younger demos.
These include a climb in April from 2.0-2.4 among 18-34, and a tick upwards from 2.6-2.7 among 12-24.
On Long island where their signal is not too good, Nash moved from 2.6-3.3 among 18-34.
The article also states, "Its biggest daypart remains nights." And Nash does not yet have a personality for 7-12 midnight.

I dont have all the numbers, but maybe more people are actually listening to the radio in the NY market because of NASH. Maybe they didn't come from a particular station, but once they find the station, they tune from Pandora at home to 94.7 in their cars. Anyone have more details?

Definitely possible. I read a lot of comments on their FB page about people who were cancelling satellite radio now that they have Nash.

Impressive 18-34 numbers for Nash. This goes to show that country's biggest growth and focus is on the younger end lately, and Nash is programming a very slick, contemporary sounding format. Also, as far as the overall 12+ numbers, is 1.8 really that bad for that signal, considering the signals limitations. That's better than several other full signal stations over the past few years (plus its looking strong in the suburbs in NJ & LI where it matters for them).

Top 10 among the younger demos, and somewhat better than that in NJ & LI seems a realistic goal. That should make Nash quite attractive to advertisers.
The fact that country music is attracting younger a younger audience than in the past may be the key to Nash's success in this area.

Another 200,000 cume and NASH will get to where PULSE 87 was....with less signal coverage and on a frequency that a lot of radios couldn't even tune to!
