Obscene Call Letters? It's happening.

Here is the Carlin bit you guys are talking about. I uploaded it myself so I can promise no viruses or other malicious stuff is attached. If you never used rapidshare just follow the link and click the button at the bottom of the "free" column. When the next page opens enter the code they give you and click "start". After that the download should start automatically. If it doesn't work or you don't trust rapidshare just pm me with an email address and I will mail it to you. It is a file less than 2 megabytes so even the 56kers should be able to get it done in 15 minutes or less.

Mr. or Mrs. Moderator if you feel the need to remove my link please do so but don't ban me, I kind of like it here.

Thats pretty funny. They change the codes with every different downloader but the O's and 0's do get confusing.

Even though I have the utmost respect for the heritage of certain calls in Houston, I only hope and pray that Michael Berry changes the calls on 950.

Might I suggest KILD? Because that's exactly what has happened to the legendary 950 KPRC.

I have a question. If KPRC did drop their call letters would the FCC allow someone else to pick them up and use them? Also are there any other instances where a radio station and tv station share the same call letters but have different owners?

Oh, I don't know. Seems to me that KPRC are the perfect calls for Michael Berry. They're a perfect fit.

One wonders how bad it will have to get before those geniuses at CC decide maybe they made a mistake by putting someone with zero radio management experience in charge of a major market cluster.

We must be entering the Twilight Zone, because I never thought I would miss Ken Charles. Berry is making Charles look like god's gift to radio.

I believe so, considering that it happened in San Antonio not too long ago. CBS flipped 102.7 KTFM for K-Rock and replaced the legendary KTFM calls with KSRX to match the new K-Rock format. When that happened BMP picked up the KTFM calls almost immediately for their Rythymic station at 94.1 which is where they are at to this day.

Now, there is a KPRC-FM that surfaced over in California in the last year or so. If I'm not mistaken, a potential suitor for the KPRC calls would have to get permission from KPRC-FM in order to use them. The same held true when this California station requested KPRC-FM. They had to get approval from Clear Channel.

Oh well hell, there you go. I figure they will stick with KPRC on 950, anyway. I mean look at KLOL. The calls are still there 4 years after the true KLOL disappeared.
