1) A little loss of the "wow" factor, not to mention FLZ's heavy push back to win back its listeners. What's impressive to me is FLZ gaining back the cume it lost over the summer during the 101.5 sampling. 101.5 still has a sizable audience, they just have to find a way to make them listen longer.
2) Not surprised since most of "The Point" listeners probably went up the dial for their 80s fix since Eagle was covering that demo well before the flip.
3) Give it until the end of Q1 2012 to do something. It is definitely getting lost in the shuffle.
4) Another victim of the Hot/FLZ battle. Decent-sized audience that has to find a reason to listen longer. They'll be okay in the long run, especially if CBS blows up Play for something not targeting women 18-34.
5) The Beat started getting the WTMP audience eight years ago. That's why the urban format is gone.
Actually what hurt WTMP more than The Beat was WSJT when they were smooth jazz. The older urban audience does not like hip-hop, they've simply gone away.
Listeners to HOT tune in, hear the SAME five songs over and over on continuous loop damn near, no wonder they bail. I realize CHR's spin top songs heavily, usually around 80-90 spins a week, but spinning four songs 130+ times a week and another four songs 90+ times a week is ridiculous after the first 30-45 days of a stations launch.

Cox uses the same template for all of it's music stations. Hot 101.5 is the pop music version of "the bone"... just play the same 20 songs, and add really ridiculous and insulting liners that convey a false sense of accomplishment.
Don't forget, another part of that Cox template is "fifty minutes of music, every hour!" And it's usually "new" for the first seven years of its existence...

Sorry for the question, but what is a template? I know all Cox stations do sound alike, but I don't hear this on CBS or CC. How does WRBQ sound like WSJT?

All of my friends tell me that they left WILD and they say HOT is less Urban and they really like it. The ratings are showing that and WILD is being affected a lot more than WFLZ.
Read on Hots website that they are doing 4 hours commercial free from 10am-2pm. How is Cox doing that. You need some commercials for the station to make money with advertisers.
If Cox could put in all this effort launching Hot I wonder why they can't put this effort in their other stations. Imagine if Cox did some restructuring with other stations. Like 102.5 and 107.3.

Well for one, Hot is using a lot of air talent from 97X so they're saving full-time employee pay there. But the other thing is the midday time slot is typically the lowest-rated for CHR because most of their target demo is busy at school or work. By going four hours commercial-free Hot is trying to keep people listening to the same 200 songs at work, and not just on the way in to work and on the way home from work (or school). It also counters FLZ's first two-hour block of commercial free (11:30 to 1:30), and with the "More Music, Less MJ" approach in the morning FLZ may be winning that midday battle right now. Smart move on Hot in my opinion.
As for 102.5 they got restructured with the additions of Bubba and Cowhead a couple of years ago. Pretty unusual to have two talkers in drive time on a classic rocker, but it breaks up the monotony of the same 200 classic rocks songs.
As for 107.3, classic hits is a very "vanilla" format, and Tampa Bay is a very vanilla market. It's a winner here for 35-year-olds to 55-year-olds and everyone in between and that's good news for 107.3. As I said earlier since they were leaning more and more 80s recently when The Point was flipped to "Hot" I bet most of The Point listeners went to 107.3. As stale as the station may be there's no reason to change it.
As a former Point listener I may be the lone wolf. I didn't flip to 107.3 when Hot 101.5 debuted. I just started burning CD's of my favorite music for in the truck. As well as using the MP3 in the car with the Auxiliary Port. Which is what I was doing before but even more so after WPOI flipped.
The Point wasn't great but The Eagle is even worse. Just my opinion though. I did however find some more great internet radio in the process. Try this site out!

I listen to the "My 80's" or KQJK-FM (93.7 Jack FM) channels on iHeartRadio...
...or I listen to one of Cumulus's "Journey"-formatted 80's/90's hits stations (Atlanta, Pensacola/Mobile, Huntsville...MINUS Cincinnati)...{The one in Cincy is a Hot AC}...
[I, too, was a former "Point" listener...]
