Buffalo October Ratings

I believe that this is a first, or at least the first in a long time. WGRF, 97-Rock, is at the top of the 12+ monthly from Nielsen. Here are the stations that broke a 1-share:

Considering it's a 3-month rolling average, indications are that WBLK had a lousy October, dropping a full share. WGR got a big Bills boost, rising 1.9 shares.

It could easily be diary placement. A couple of households can create a significant swing in a diary market with a meager sample. It will be interesting to see if it holds up over time.

Looking at the recent trends, I'd have to say that 97 Rock's rebuild is going very well.

Also:
-Christmas music can't come fast enough for 96.1; that station went south fast over the last 2 trends. Ditto for 103.3 the Edge.
-WBFO is still hanging on; WNED-FM dropped quite a bit.
-The Patriot made slight gains from the last trend, but still hasn't cracked a 1 rating as yet.

WBEN had their worst 12 plus book that I can ever remember. 5.8.

Patriot trending up. When FMS hit, it will go higher.

I think Patriot is hurting WBEN. But they ain’t seen nothing yet… spoiler alert. Big changes coming.

I also know where WECK stands in this whole thing. It’s impressive. You can probably figure it out by looking at where a “hole” is 12 p

WBEN has had far worse books. The last three have been 5.8, 5.9, 5.8. WBEN is down about half a share year over year, but pretty much where there were in 2023, which was not a presidential election year. WUSW has been 0.2, 0.3, 0.5.

So where were the far worse books WBEN had? I don’t recall them. Can you tell me what books they are.

Yes, WUSW had a 0.2, 0.3, 0.5. Not a decline yet. Wait til the FM’s get fired up in January

They had a 5.2 in December 2023, another year with no major elections, followed by a 5.3 in January 2024. With 2024 being a presidential election year, their ratings averaged about a 7 share. Mid-term elections next year will likely trigger more interest than the handful of local elections this year.
