Odd Coincidence in a DVD set

Re: Family Dollar Store locations

It says:

There are no stores within 120 miles of your current location.

Yeah Phantom, I mean Bat Man, aka Bruce

That's what Alfred is there for. And there's a Family Dollar Store in Gotham City, I just Checked. About Bats, yes I had one fly into my Hotel Room last year, and it scared the Holy Crap out of me!

Hey Phantom, how many other names have you used here?

uh, miamimadman :)

actually, I don't recall any others at least in the last couple of years.

Certainly, no great names like The Batman.

Oh, I did use my real name for a long time.

But then the FCC, or was it the SEC, or the IRS, or the CIA, started coming around.

Yes, Phantom, but I did not know my own secret identity, so naturally I had to change.

You have to know your "inner" self ... whatever that means.

Just noticed this does not have much to do with Classic TV, so ....

I think Donna Reed was sexy on ... "The Donna Reed Show".

Good Advice, you made One Moderator very happy!

They were right where you said they would be!

Seeing this thread made me want to visit a Family Dollar just off my regular path of travel (I'm in the Savannah, Ga. area) ... sure 'nuff, they had several in the bin for $5.00. Their DVD section was a small three-level bin, and was hard to find -- was next to the little grocery section.

Wife and I watched three of 'em last night - the Jack Benny ep with Liberace (that one alone was worth the price of admission), complete with Lucky Strike commercials , the Burns & Allen 'taxman' episode, and a "Life of Riley" (Riley gets a tonsillectomy .... and proving my theory that Peter Griffin of "Family Guy" was modeled after Chester A. Riley)

My only complaint: all three of those had OVERDUBBED open/close themes!! Now, yes, I can see that with "Beverly Hillbillies" or "Andy Griffith", as those are distinct copyrighted recordings. Don't like it one bit, but I can understand. But "Life of Riley" and "Burns and Allen"??!! Hell, I don't even remember how LOR's theme song went! And I have that same B&A taxman ep on another video - another public domain release - with the original themes intact.

Do all of the programs in this set have faked themes?

If I'd paid 20, 30 or more for this set, I would not be happy.

But for five bucks, I'm not going to complain a whole lot. I look forward to digging into the mystery programs on that last disc, especially that "Gangbusters" ep.

The overdubbing (didnt know that was what that was called) was the one complaint I had about the set. I know Ozzie and Harriett has it..Not sure about some of the others. I watched the Detectives DVD..The Gangbusters one was quite good. The Ellery Queen/DuMont show was sponsored by "Kaiser Frazier" Automobile Dealers..I had barely heard of them up to now..
