OFCOURSE I'M BROKE... I WORK IN RADIO.

Radio is killing itself, because of deregulation. It started in 1996.

Deregulation has nothing to do with this, and in the case I mentioned the talent was still at a small, low rated facility in 1996. His biggest breaks occured around 1999 to 2000 when he moved to a top 10 market.

He is simply one of the lucky ones, that's all. He got in before dereg started, and managed to survive. TODAY, the chances of this happening are few and far in between, thanks to dereg.

Hey Busy,
Do you listen to radio? Live reads happen every single break, and even somebody like you can tell if it is a "Live" read, or produced commercial. $400 Million (Dallas) in ad revenue says that Radio is fine, it may not be run well right now, but people still have a comfort level having it there and always will. Do good radio and people will find you. Do bad radio, and some people will listen any way.

I am assuming you are actually referring to jock product endorsements, when you say "Live Read". Am I right here?

A live read is simply a spot that is done live, as opposed to recorded, with no production.

An endorsement is when a talent recommends or advises using a product.

An endorsement can be live or not.

And today, most live reads are actually recorded but done in live style.

Right, but I believe the technical term is "dry spot".
