The fault does not lie with BAS, where was CC management hiring Nick or anyone else knowing that the station was sold...

It's a classic case of "Pass the Buck". We don't want to be the "Bad Guys". I guess if you still want people to advertise with the stations, you have to take the cowards way out. Here's a thought, man up to your decisions. I've seen this time and time again. It's disgusting!![]()

Come Friday when word gets out who was kept & who was let go, THAT's when all the wrongness will be revealed. as it's looking like more part timers are being kept than full timers Nightfly '61
"Gave away" is right on the money. Although CC had the sense to not 'throw-in' WCKY. If they had, we'd have to test the water their drinking in San Antonio.sandybeachtheone said:What CC gave them away for?? 5.2 mill for the 5 that BAS bought. Obviously CPZ and the Findlay FM is basically what they paid for.....

This evening on WCPZ was filled with hints of "the end is near" "it's over soon" "the end of an Era", "the last time".
Oh the drama! Radio geeks get erections over this stuff and it does NOTHING for the audience.
I'm a radio guy. Radio is in my blood, but at the end of the day I'm smart enough to realize it would suck to
walk away from the mic, but the last thing I'm going to do is produce a long painful-to-listen goodbye.
Here were the songs played on WCPZ about midnight.
When will I see you Again Three Degrees
Chris Brown Say Goodbye
Green Day Good Riddance
The Famous and Final Scene Bob Seger.
Na Na Kiss him Goodbye.
Jesus of Nazereth!
Did I miss something? Did they turn the transmitter off forever? Did 102.7 go away?
Yeah, it sucks. Bitch about it on the boards, at the bar and to your buddies, but leave the audience out of it. It makes radio look bad and the last thing we need is another black eye.
As if the the guys working at Callahan Auto parts on the 2nd shift care there are new owners to a radio station coming in at midnight. All they want to do is make the best brake pads, earn some $$ and hear their favorite songs.

WMMS and Power 108 were well organized, and creative stunts designed to get you to listen. Guess what? It worked.
Tonight was not a stunt, just rather an example of how radio has lost touch with the audience, thinking they care who owns the xmitter or what the station is called.
Sure, WCPZ is special, but guess what? Friday morning or Monday morning, the audience will turn on the radio and still hear the same AC format.
rick bell said:Again, underestimating the listener is a dangerous prospect. It's radio 101 that many corporations still don't get. But I guess it's not up to us, we'll all find out soon enough how these BAS moves affect Sandusky, if at all
I have to agree with you Chris. If the listener is not important, then why have advertisers? Apparently if I were an advertiser, I wouldn't want to waste any money unless there was someone wanting my goods or services. Sure there are button pushers out there, but if you own a radio station, is that something your going to pitch on a sales call? Maybe it sounds stupid, but it is radio 101. Back to the basics if you want to make any money at all.

Are you kidding me? I think you may be taking listeners forgranted just a bit. I remember the dupe WMMS tried to pull, and as a kid listenting to the radio the second I thought that station was a goner. I did the same thing for WENZ when they flipped from "the End." There's a lot of people who hold WCPZ close to their hearts, and I'm sure a lot heard the end of that station as we know it.
It's this type of thinking that has led radio to exactly what BAS is making these Sandusky stations out to be. Let's all just assume our listeners don't care what, or who we put on the airwaves, and let's see how that goes. I hope we all have career backup plans if that's the case.
