A few things in response.
First, to Nightfly -- I think you better lift the covers up or get out of Queen City. TK and Jim ran the Cumulus cluster for over three years, the longest tenure of any Toledo Cumulus market manager and general sales manager Cumulus has had since 2000. So get your facts straight.
It's one thing to speculate, and it's another to pass fictional information as fact!
Kentucky,
I believe WQIO would benefit from a live morning show as well. And some day, I think that will be a reality. They hired Jenney Murray back, and she'd be the natural perfect fit.
But as for WQIO being a major player in the Columbus market, I don't see that day ever coming, regardless of how you program the station. Stephen Zelkowitz tried awfully hard, but failed at achieving the very thing we're talking about. And Rod Staats (son of Ron Staats) pushed hard toward the Columbus market, but the station never became a major player.
At the end of the day, the BAS stations care a lot about the communities they're in and it's evident with the amount of news and special events coverage. Minus a local morning show, WMVO has remained the same as it's been for years. It's public affairs, local news and information and sports coverage.
And the billing for the stations, yesterday versus today, speaks for itself.
