Old Casey Kasem AT-40 shows to WODS?

I put a question mark next to Desperado because I wasn't sure that was part of the program. As I said in my post, music was played during the show that didn't really seem to be part of the AT40 show, Casey was nowhere to be heard from, and I wasn't sure if that song was part of the list or just some type of filler inserted by WODS or what.

I should have just left it blank, I guess. I just checked Wikipedia and it says Desperado was a hit for the Eagles in 1973 and last night's AT40 was from 1977. So sorry. ;D

Eagles, I guess, I dont recall a female singing the song.

Where the heck is the edit button? ???

Don't have my Whitburn book handy, but I don't ever recall hearing that one back when the Eagles were together...only in the last 20 years or so. Was it ever released as a single?

I think Premiere adds fill songs, if you listen to the old shows on XM they carry just the show, no commercials and no extras beyond what was aired back in the day

Desperado was NEVER a hit outside of AOR circles. Yes, I'm aware that Magic plays the tune (a lot) these days, but Desperado was still NEVER a hit the same way Stairway To Heaven was NEVER a hit and the Bee Gees' More Than A Woman was NEVER a hit (I'm admittedly a tad A-retentive as far as top 40 chart positions go). ;)

But because it wasn't available as a 7" single, it didn't qualify to chart on Billboards Hot 100 though.

not necessarily. There have been a number of 12" singles that had made the hot 100. Had they chosen to chart it on its peak week it may had debuted at #1.

The reason why there was no 7" in the US was because they didn't want to have two A singles at the same time like they did with "Crazy for You" and "Material Girl"

And the #1 song in the land this week...for June 11, 1970......

Mama Told Me (Not To Come).....by Three Dog Night

"Deserado" was recorded by Ronstadt, and whether The Eagles' original version or Ronstadt's, both were considered "Country Rock".
