WHFC -- began in 1926 at the Hotel Flanders in Chicago. They would soon be squeezed into a share-time situation, with 5 stations on 1310 at its worst. In 1930, they, with WEHS and WKBI, were allowed to move to 1420, leaving WCLS and WKBB on 1310. WHFC bought out the other two in 1936, also moving to Cicero. They were shifted to 1450 in 1941. Bought by Chess Records in 1963, turning it into WVON.

If you want Arab, Vietnamese, programing or any other foreign language station,
there a divice called: "shortwave radio" in which it can be purchase at any Radio Shack store, I have five of them all made by Elon' from Grundig.
Besides we have way too many foreign immigrant radio stations here in Chicago Anyway and most of them are Illegal immigrants, especially on the AM dial
these ethnic radio station are over crowding the AM band!

Basically, the format makes money but not enough money, although I am sure that there is never enough profit for some. I'm pretty tired of hearing that as a consumer, my choices make no difference because of my age (although the Coach leather people seem to appreciate me). It's not advertisers who are making the decisions, it's corporations who now own the airwaves. This is what happens when an industry is divided among a few large corporations.ultravox said:Unfourtantly Radio and Tv stations don't care what you want to hear or see. They only want what the advertisers want because thats what makes them money. In feders colum today he says oldies get good ratings but advertisers dont want that so off it goes . WJMK a perfect example. What i want is old time radio or big band on this station but of course that doesnt make money. Oh well more ethnic crap.
