I checked to see who added what you wrote. I started the article and a small portion of your post is mine, but if you are telling the truth that would make you PastorMatt.

If 94.1 does not change to religion after it is sold and if 94.1 moves to a new tower near Charlotte they will have a city grade signal over the metro which will bring "oldies" back to the city. It will not be Magic of old but it will certainly fill a void in the market place. The logical choice for a local "oldies" statiion would be for The Ride to make a change. The market is hungry for a Classic Hits / Oldies station and the person that does it first will have a chance to win. Win with revenue increases and win with "ego" by kicking CC and the other big guys in the butt! This format is making big gains in PPM markets and in diary markets as well.
It'll never happen, but "The Ride" should take the WAIZ letters and "Big Ways" name of Dave Lingafelt's station in Hickory.

The exact format ... maybe not. But "Big" WAYS never sounded like that.

The Ride, as originally conceived (some people say it's a watered-down version of what it started as) would go online or HD.

Magic 96.1 was an awesome station with Keith Abrams and his crew. I was working across town at Star 104.7 and WSOC at the time. Star was 70s Oldies and they cleaned our clock, big time!

But to be honest had Star been a little more upbeat with its presentation and open that playlist up Star could have been a fun station... You are right though Up untill around 2001 Magic was on top of it's game... Here is something to ponder though had Magic had the chance to stick around with the way the oldies/classic hits stations sound now Magic would have come full circle once again playing the hits of the 60's 70's and 80's... CC1

If you've read the various boards there are a number of stations around making the change to Oldies! WRIT in Milwuakee spent the past 3 years as a Classic Hits station and has made the change back to Oldies. PPM appears to be fairly kind to oldies based stations across the country.

If they are switching to religious, when will it happen? It would be a shame, if that's true. ???

WHO??? Where did this stupid statement come from? Why would 94.1 go back to Jesus a go go when it lost money to start with. read the previous posts and comprehend before making ludicious statements like this! [glow=red,2,300]BIGAPE ::)glow]

Big Ape always has the answer! 94.1 will most likely be sold to a religious broadcaster and they will make the change. If there is no sale look for Gig to make the switch himself. When the change takes place it will be a wide open market for somebody to fill the format hole in Charlotte. With no advertising and no presence in the market 94.1 is pulling nice shares in the 35-64 demo and has grown in every Arbiton 12+ to it's most recent 1.3.

What I've been hearing on these boards is that Billy Graham's WMIT will take it over.

Anyone care about 96.1?  It's still mom & pop Lexington.
??? ???  Where you been?? isn't any 96.1 in Lexington!

I do not think that 94.1 will go to the BG organization. Would put money on EMF or the family taking it religion as an independent. They did it once before and from all indications it was financially successful. This move would certainly make room for somebody to step in and pick up the 94.1 Charlotte numbers?

…Majic 94.1… The company has filed for a Change of the City of License to Faith and is attempting to build a tower in Rowan County. There is also the possiblitly that Majic 94.1 could drop their format and switch to religion and make the move to Charlotte.

If someone else buys the station, they may very well go Religion. Gig won't have anything to do with it at that point. And, who knows that it might not be profitable with someone else running it?

...you do realize, if we keep this up Big Ape is gonna have an aneurism or sumthin'?
I'm just sayin'.

Don't think the family will change formats as long as they own it. I think they're probably making money with this one. Why change? That being said, I don't think they like radio and will sell as soon as the opportunity presents itself. Sorry Big Ape.

 I am family. Thank you...But just not too much interested in 94.1 anymore. My Mother just died on November 20th, 2009 at age 86 and was Gig's Mother's Cousin! So, I hate to say it, but as far as I am concerned, anybody can do whatever they want with any of the stations,Farm News, TN radio Network, Accordian, John Phillip Sousa, Shake a Snake or whatever...I'm 60 years old now and am not going to work anywhere anymore except "Chasing Girls, Drinking Crown Royale, Driving my Maserati and cruising the beaches where I grew up! So, ya'll just have a good ole time predicting what's going to happen because as on November 20, 2009, I don't give a "Rats Ass"

P. S. Thanks for all you WLXN-WTHZ people for showing up to my Mom's funeral... NADA!BIGAPE!
