Oldies 103 and 105.7 WROR IT'S TOO FREAKIN EARLY!!!!!!

Its great that you are LOVING it. Although, what else would you say on here, right? Problem is, I know of NO ONE in my extended family old, young, female or male who is happy with the change. You have lost regular listeners to WROR with the departure of Dale....Now with ROR playing xmass music as well, the chance to get them back is now also gone, hence the SAME EXACT FORMAT on the competitions station.

You may not know people who like it, and I don't either, but WODS' Arbitron ratings spike up significantly for every fall book from the Christmas format, whether WROR is also doing it or not. There are a lot of people out there who like it. You can't argue with the numbers.

I still say it is TOO DARN EARLY!

The Friday AFTER Thanksgiving the earliest IF THEN.

I still say Ror should had gone first with just a few and then as soon as ODS flipped go back to the hits saying we'll wait till after Thanksgiving.

Do not be surprised if they keep it up till New Years and next year it starts Nov 1st if not earlier.

WBMX already HAD their turn.

WMKK is too rock 80s heavy and don't do announcers. Besides 93.7 had their turn too two formats ago

Even if it DID go to 94.5 that doesn't mean you have to listen the rest of the week.

Mix had it only because they inherited it from the old 98.5 WROR flip. Same with the Eagle (or whatever 93.7 was at the time). Times change. Mix could make it work.

Actually he was on WBOS, and then he was replaced with a blues show. I do not know if he was let go or if he just did not renew. In any case he ended up on Mix 2 weeks later. Then after A.M.R. bought WCGY, they eventually moved him to over there instead to better fit his radio shows format instead.

So, you have the power to change your preset to another radio station. Use it. And, stop pissing and moaning about how much you dislike X-mas format in every other post.

There are hundreds of people in local retail who will be losing their jobs in a month from now. These people will not be getting their seasonal bonuses which make up 1/3 of their annual income directly impacting them and their families. And, you're bitching about a temporary format like you're really impacted by it. There are stores in the new mega mall in Natick that are breaking and getting out of their leases as we speak because nothing's selling. Have you walked thru a big dept anchor store during the day? There's more sales help than customers. And the mall's owners are on the verge of filing for Chapter 11.

Get a grip on reality, mate.

It may sound nice to hear and put some folks in the holiday spirit, but all Christmas music on the radio is not going to help the ecomony. If people don't have the money, they don't have the money, nothing you can do about it, except wait for the ecomony to get better. Cutting back is the only option right now. I understand it will be very difficult for some folks who struggle to pay the bills and support themselves or their families. Everyone needs to learn that Christmas is NOT about getting presents. It's about celebrating the birth of Jesus and being with the ones you love. Sure it's nice to want to give something, but if anyone EXPECTS to get anything, that is not what Christmas is about. Many kids are too young to understand that, but the reality is, they may not get what they want for Christmas, and parents will have to teach them that you can't always get what you want, even Santa can only do so much. That's life, and you must accept it, and do the best you can.

Also, if I had a choice about when these stations played Christmas music, it would be nice to have it mixed in with the regular format starting the day after Thanksgiving, and then a swtich to all Christmas on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, if they wanted to.

Does anyone think the day after Thanksgiving will bring more conversions to all Christmas music?
If not the Boston area, what about other New England markets? Worcester, perhaps?

WSRS/Worcester has flipped the last few years and will probably flip the day after Thanksgiving. I mentioned in another thread that there is a poll on http://www.wsrs.com asking listeners when they should flip. Currently, slightly less than 25% say right now and 32% say the day after Thanksgiving.

As of today, WMJX has a very similar poll on their website. But the question here is: Does this mean ALL Christmas music? I know they did it in 2005, but have not done so since then. It could be because their audience didn't like it. WMJX is known for being somewhat old school, and known for doing things in a very old-fashioned way.

I'd say they are referring to all Christmas because why bother having a poll for dropping in the occasional holiday music tune.

I voted for Christmas Eve and I am very much in the minority. Here are the latest results:

When should we start playing Christmas music?
Should be already! (16%)
December 1 (27%)
Thanksgiving Day (29%)
2 Weeks before Christmas (20%)
Christmas Eve (5%)

i dont see the poll, but when i do find it, i will vote that they already should be playing christmas music!!! imagine a 3 way ratings battle between WODS WMJX and WROR!!! im so excited :D

I thought you would be, cbf.  Why don't you buy a radio station, and make it all Christmas, all the time, year round?  Imagine this, a station you could call W-XMAS (real call letters could be WXMS or whatever is available).  I can see you on the air now on a 90 degree August day saying "this is W-Christmas, and here is Let It Snow!" ;D

By the way, Magic 106.7 and 105.7 WROR are both owned by Greater Media. Why would Greater Media make Magic 106.7 all Christmas when one their own stations is already doing it? Makes no sense.
