Oldies radio returns to Orlando

I agree with you about oldies being born on AM, but not about it being designed for AM. AM Radio was one of the only choices for music back then.

I just missed the generation that listened to music on AM, but my parents and other people I know who did, will certainly not listen to AM music now days. They remember the good OLD days about it, but since there are better choices for music now, they won't go back. They would mind also. My mom in fact hates to listen to music on AM now days.

I know NO ONE that listens to music on AM, except myself!

Depending on the post, there are at least 5 or 8 people in Chicago who listen to WRLL. I don't know how WABC-AM in NYC is doing on Saturday nights, but there has to be an equal number to WRLL who listen:)

Sounds good (via web).

There's a Bahamiam station on 810, so I wonder what their
power is and how far south their signal will go.

Our remaining oldies station in the Miami market thinks
no one likes music from the 50s or early sizties, except
a few selected tracks.

I'd rather have oldies like these on AM than 1965-70s
oldies station (WMXJ) with a crappy playlist on FM.

And, no, I will not get satellite. I can't envision
ever wanting to do so.

I don't see that listening to pay satellite with no
local content is any better than listening to my
CDs for free.

With institutional thinking like yours and
Dave's, Nick and TVland would never have happened.

We have four full-time sports stations and
five full-time talk stations on AM between
the Miami and Palm Beach Markets.

Flipping one or two of them to oldies would
give listeners more choices. Despite your
vehement disapproval of the AM band.

(Hell, I listened to classical on AM for
a few years, because that was the only
daytime classical to be had around here.)

It would draw people who had long ago given
up on what passes for an oldies station in
Miami -- WMXJ.
