OLN Finally Changes Its Name

VERSUS? what kind of name is that? they be better keeping the old oln name.

Heard some stupid network names, but I think this one tops the list.Damned stupid name.Rock on,Tybois UpholdEditor-SVRTV

And I thought "THE CW" was a stupid name...sheeshVS ????what the heck were they thinking ?

Are they spelling it VS. or Versus? VS. was a game show on Comedy Central hosted by Greg Proops. Maybe if Comcast went for comedy, they could draw a bigger audience than the NHL.I suppose they voted down ESPNWannabe

Comcast has Comcast Sports Network on my system. Mostly local school games and regional stuff.Dish network took OLN off the line up so OLN is down a bit on total subscribers.Hocky and biking are fine but they will need more to make sports network.

That's just it - They weren't.And to think, they wanted to avoid the sublime and absurd names too. They should've kept looking.Yet another example of the homogonization of the media. At least G4 won't be the only absurdly named network on television now. Umm....Is that supposed to be a blessing?Cheers :)Pat

Why don't they just call it comcast sports net?
They're too dumb to even think of that. Look at their local news and entertainment channels. CET, which is the local Comcast channel here in Denver is a friggin' joke. Altitude is more entertaining to watch than CET is. :(At least Time Warner has CNN resources and staff they can tap into for regional news channels in areas they serve.Sorry, but Comcast just doesn't know how to put on REAL quality programming outside Philadelphia. To me, they're just the cable company. Nothing more. Nothing less.Just my opinion...Cheers :)Pat

Yeah they should just sell their networks, another company whould do better of their networks than what comcast is doing with them

OLN Canada has chosen to keep the OLN name, and NOT follow the american lead.

probly because they still have more outdoor shows than the american network, and not showing hockey

If their wasn't a channel called C-SPAN I would bet Comcast would name it CSPN, Comcast Sports Network. I only took the E off ESPN and added a C. Or even this just call it SPORT or how about Sportcom.

probly because they still have more outdoor shows than the american network, and not showing hockey[/quote]-----------------------------------------------------Actually, OLN Canada, and TSN Canada (The Sports Network) are the same company, and TSN carries hockey. No need to compete with themselves.

I guess they're playing it safe. They may still try to get the 2001-2006 FX/FOX Family Package from ESPN that will expire this year.I expect that if they don't get it, they'll stick with the name full time.As far as I'm concern, OLN no longer fits the name for the network anyway once you add Survivorto your programming portfolio. ;D
