OLN, the new national cable home of the NHL, has announced the schedule for their first season of NHL coverage.
You can find the schedule of OLN's NHL telecasts on the NHL's website.
There are 58 regular-season games, including six doubleheaders.
I wish there would be a 59th regular-season game and a seventh doubleheader on OLN.
I would like OLN and the NHL to get together and change the start time of what is to be OLN's first NHL game of the season on opening night (New York Rangers at Philadelphia) from 7 P.M. EDT to 9 P.M. EDT. Then, the league should change the start time of the game between Pittsburgh and New Jersey (the first NHL game for Pittsburgh Penguins' rookie phenom Sidney Crosby) from 7:30 P.M. EDT to 6 P.M. EDT. This way, OLN would start their run as the NHL's national cable outlet with a doubleheader, and the first NHL game of the most-heavily-hyped rookie in the league since Bobby Orr in 1966 (if not ever) could get full national cable-TV coverage across the United States.
And if either CBC or TSN was planning opening-night NHL telecasts in Canada, perhaps the game(s) scheduled to be broadcast that night could also be moved to 9 P.M. EDT, allowing the New Jersey/Pittsburgh game (assuming it's changed to a 6 P.M. EDT start) to also be available across all of Canada.
