OLN NHL Schedule Out

OLN, the new national cable home of the NHL, has announced the schedule for their first season of NHL coverage.

You can find the schedule of OLN's NHL telecasts on the NHL's website.

There are 58 regular-season games, including six doubleheaders.

I wish there would be a 59th regular-season game and a seventh doubleheader on OLN.

I would like OLN and the NHL to get together and change the start time of what is to be OLN's first NHL game of the season on opening night (New York Rangers at Philadelphia) from 7 P.M. EDT to 9 P.M. EDT. Then, the league should change the start time of the game between Pittsburgh and New Jersey (the first NHL game for Pittsburgh Penguins' rookie phenom Sidney Crosby) from 7:30 P.M. EDT to 6 P.M. EDT. This way, OLN would start their run as the NHL's national cable outlet with a doubleheader, and the first NHL game of the most-heavily-hyped rookie in the league since Bobby Orr in 1966 (if not ever) could get full national cable-TV coverage across the United States.

And if either CBC or TSN was planning opening-night NHL telecasts in Canada, perhaps the game(s) scheduled to be broadcast that night could also be moved to 9 P.M. EDT, allowing the New Jersey/Pittsburgh game (assuming it's changed to a 6 P.M. EDT start) to also be available across all of Canada.

Are these going to be exclusive games or will they be blacked out/replaced if a local team is playing?
______________

They will be exclusive to OLN. Games on OLN cannot air on local broadcast-TV stations or regional cable sports networks that hold local TV rights in the home markets of the two teams playing in an OLN-televised game.

What I mean is this scenario:
I am in New York the Rangers are playing.
Game is a OLN game.
Will the game be blacked out on OLN and on MSG?
______________

Where's the Leafs? Even Buffalo makes it on twice. I don't think it's a Canada thing since the Flames and Canucks end up at least once. Buffalo vs Toronto is always an interesting game no matter what shape the 2 teams are in. Detroit/Toronto for that matter...

As much hype as there is for Crosby...you'll have plenty of chances to see him from the looks of it. Opening night isn't that big of a deal...he'll have the stage to himself a few days later and may light Buffalo up to the tune of a hat trick or 2

At least OLN has 5 Blackhawk games. Small number considering all the games they are gonna show.

Shame that an original 6 team isn't significant anymore -- nationally or locally.

Maybe thats the case with the NHL all across America, we'll see. I'm guessing when this contract is up in a few years, Comcast and NBC/Universal wont be renewing and ESPN will grab it cheap.

This strike caused alot of bad blood. Did I mention how bitching the new NHL logo is?

Is there an OLN2 or OLNxtra?

What if a game goes into extra periods? Do they have a plan to air the 10:30pm game in it's entirity or is the NHL gonna have a shootout like the AHL (just kidding)? Or what if they want to add games (possible playoff match-ups or hot teams) later in the season?

It will be seen on OLN. It will not be seen on MSG.

So it would be time to turn the TV sound down and the radio up.
______________

You may have been kidding, but there really will be shootouts this year in the NHL, so no more overtimes.
Besides, the regular-season OTs only lasted five minutes, so they didn't have those all-night marathons so common in the playoffs.

I think the schedule is favoring Sidney Crosby.

After all with this much hype he's getting let's

hope he don't wind up like a Danica Patrick or

a Lebron James and actually is in contention

to make it to the postseason.

I like to see the Nashville Predators are there at least once

So are the Montreal Canadians (The NEW YORK YANKEES of the NHL).

You need to give OLN credit at least they're CARING about the fact

they're having the NHL as opposed to ESPN with it's NFL, MLB & NBA

WHY HAVE HOCKEY WHEN YOU GOT THE THREE AMERICAN MADE SPORTS ALL ROLLED

UP INTO ONE?

I think NBC will do the same type of hype that OLN will do about Crosby

so that's how it is.
