O'Loughlin Resigns from WECK

I'm loving these posts right now because I worked at KOA in Denver where Alan Berg worked... I had to explain to my PD at WECK who Alan Berg WAS. So please DO NOT even put them in the same sentence.

Loraine, did you have to explain to Tom Schuh who Alan Berg was, or did you have to explain to Brad Riter who Alan Berg was?

I'm thinking it was Brad, but I just want to be sure. Thanks.

You would be correct. And "Brave" in radio is TRULY Alan Berg. My husband and I both subbed-in weekends on KOA and we received death-threats on our un-listed home phone for talking about marriage-equality...but wer'e in the business and we knew what we were signing up for...especially working on the same station as Mr. Berg. He truly embodies the BEST in radio...and I think that's true of BOTH sides of the political aisle...airing our opinions...no matter what they be is the ultimate practice of the first ammendment. So when I was let go at WECK for "Subject matter" (one of the reasons given) I was hardly surprised...I'm proud, actually..."What a long, strange trip it's been."

Again, while Berg's situation was the worst case scenario for a talk host, it is still quite unsettling to go head to head with people, recognizing that at some point you have to leave the secure confines of that studio. So standing up for what you believe, especially if it is contrary to what the hostile masses want to hear, can in context be called brave.

I guess firing one of your morning people could be considered "brave" when she ends up "Mad as Hell".

What I think is interesting, is that when building WECK, no one tried to steal away the only talk radio juggernaut, Shredd & Ragan??

Sheesh. I thought I was seriously stretching it when I posted about bringing in Mensa Mike. This goes way beyond ridiculous. Heh. Leave a successful FM slot to go play on a no-share AM. Ha. Hahaha. Hahahahahahahaha. SSSKub, you can be a funny guy!

No Bill O tonight on Channel 2.... but Brad Riter is on!!!

So when does Brad return?

Not gonna lie, I am really interested to hear his first hour to hear about his golf game, how tan he got, and most importantly, what he thinks about the fallout of Bill O's resignation and the feedback on Loraine's termination.

Back today? Later this week? I can't find anything on the WECK website that says anything about Brad's status.

Listen, I know its not probable obviously. But when Brad came out with his manifesto to take down the competition, one would THINK they would pull out all the stops. Just a thought, I understand that goes beyond Mr. Greene's purse strings and it's not likely a splash of that magnitude would be made. Glad you got a chuckle though.

Brad did mention Bill O'Loughlin by name in his monologue, essentially giving Bill O some free publicity for his Channel 2 TV show.

Again, kinda strange. Why mention a former employee by name, especially one who is bad-mouthing the station all over WNY via Facebook, his business contacts... and while sitting belly-up at the bar at Russ Salvatore's new restaurant?

Brad vs. Bill O in a sumo-wrestling match in between innings of a Bisons game. Now THAT would be MUST SEE TV.

Geez!  George how much money are you making as Brad's press agent.  Enough already!  Brad's on a "no share" radio station as Sir Rox pointed out in another post.  I don't think there's another poster on this board that would admit to hanging on Brad's every word and move like you do.  We just don't care! Get a life!
