A few nuggets from last night (1/1/20),,,,
I was on the Westfjord, Iceland SDR around 8:30 (CST) 0230 (GMT).....
A couple of surprising catches. First was WSSP, Milwaukee, on 1250. All of the Chicago blowtorches were absent, as were the two other most likely big signals from Milwaukee (WTMJ and WISN). So then comes 5kw WSSP comfortably on top of the channel. Sports talk interrupted by "Van Horn Auto Group" spot. (Milwaukee area auto dealer). Later I was hearing KCJJ on 1630. Perhaps not all that surprising since they've turned up multiple times on the Norway arctic SDR.
Others of note last night... CKAC, WHAS, WBZ (apparently the null misses Iceland), WCKY. As would be expected, the band was dominated by European stations. Probably more from the UK any other European country. BBC on 693 and 810 (Scotland), along with Sports Talk 1089 were all blasting.
WSSP--Quite a catch considering you didn't hear any Chicago or Milwaukee stations. A few nights ago I heard WISN on the Arctic receiver. This season the Alaskans have been really getting out. I've heard Alaska on the Arctic & Hawaii receivers. In fact KNOM has been coming in almost everytime I check the Hawaii receiver fighting it out with KKOH. BTW: even with their null WBZ often is heard on the European receivers.
