WMGI Terre Haute - Mix 100.7 PD Opening
Due to a promotion within our company, MIX-FM (WMGI-FM) Terre Haute, Indiana has an outstanding opportunity for the right Program Director. Consistently one of the top stations in the market, we are looking for the programmer to continue the winning trend while leading the way. Experience (especially with CHR) and solid track-record are a must! Send your package to Jeff McCarthy, VP Programming, Midwest Communications, Inc. / email: [email protected] or mail to P.O. Box 23333, Green Bay, WI 54305. WMGI and Midwest Communications, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Women and Minorities are encouraged to apply.

Any Info?

What kind of info are you looking for that's not already in the ad?

Was the PD who was promoted only at WMGI for 8 months or so? I thought Matt Leuking was PD there, and he departed MIX for another Terre Haute area cluster (I want to say WAXI...)

Midwest Comm is a great company. They believe in their employees. I think it's worth a shot to invest the time in looking into the opening.

Hey there, for the record I am working at WZPL in Indianapolis-part-time, running my own Dj business Showtime Music, and working at the FYE music store in Terre Haute as the assistant manager. I did do a guest stint the other day on B102.7 with Chris Carter on the morning show in Terre Haute. Really I am just enjoying life outside of full-time radio. I love it part-time though. I still am very much involved with the music industry just in different aspects.
Terre Haute is a great market, and a great place to enjoy a peaceful life, and raise a family, or just enjoy a slower pace in life if that is what you desire. It was great to me for 10 years, and if you get involved in the community, you will love it too. Anybody that wants to hit me up to chat radio, can do so at [email protected].
I wish Chad Edwards the best on his promotion. He did around 10 years at Mix as well. That's a darn good run.

This is gonna sound corny, but I agree with Matt, Terre Haute is a nice place to have a family and have a quiet life. And you can almost afford to live there on radio wages. ;)

Inside Scoop

The Crossroads Communications Ops. Manager Chris Carter is possibly heading over there. I know for a fact he's been in contact with them and even mentioned he had originally applied for the spot befor Matt was named PD. He likes Mix a lot and thinks it can still be huge here. So I don't know for sure, but I know it's possible.

Doesn't that guy work with you Sketch? Way to bust out your buddy there. I hope he doesn't go over there by what I hear at Crossroads. Unless he is going to change MIX-FM back to the Dance music of the mid 90's. We need that dance back in Terre Haute.

Mix-fm is a great station. I hope whoever takes over the reins gives it the time, energy, and passion that it deserves.

You also forget that I know many aliases when people don't post their real names. My departure from WMGI was a blessing in disguise. I wish the station success.

Matt, you are a class act!

I would like to see Mix Fm go back to the way they were when Beau Richards was there... Now that my friends was radio!!!

Thanks. I prefer to remember my good years there under Bright Tower. 10 years is a lot of radio life at one place. Whoever takes the reins of the station should have a chance to raise the ratings after the 8.5 in the last book. There are people in the building, and out of the building, that I am sure would do a great job. Beau Richards had that place humming, and people talking. It was a great time to be a part of the station.

<<Matt, you are a class act! >>

Have you actually ever met him? I've had the displeasure a few times.

I've never worked at MIX-FM and I don't plan to, not my cup of tea, but I've read Matt's posts before and can't take someone telling a station what it needs to do when, if he new what it needed, he would still work there.

Anyway, enough said. I'm done.

Where did we meet Marco and what station or business do you work at? If I wasn't nice to you, my apologies. I had consistent ratings over the years when I was there. The ratings went up when I was PD from a 9.7 to an 11.4, and then it went to a 11.5, and now an 8.5. All those numbers are 12 plus.
As far as me not working there, as I said it was a blessing in disguise. Are there things that WMGI could do better, sure? However, they do lots of things well! That is for the new company to decide, but everybody is entitled to have an opinion, (you have formed one about me.) I am much happier now, and I enjoy my part-time radio job in Indianapolis, and my other ventures.
Top 40 radio is one of those formats, where at some point you either have to segue into another format, move cities, or do something else. It is a choice that all Dj's are faced with at some point in their life. Some decide earlier than others, and some are able to do it forever and are able to retire in the business, but rarely in the format.
I will say once again that Mix-fm is a great station, and whoever gets to PD, congrats!

I've never met Matt in person, But I have listened to him on the air (both at Hot 104.3 and at Mix-Fm). I have no reason to think he isn't a class act. He was great on the radio, and his numbers speak for themselves.

This is kinda off topic, But does anyone know if the old WZZQ signal is for sale?

Thanks man. I always tried to be as nice as I could to people, but there will always be a few people that don't like you no matter what. I am still on at www.wzpl.com in Indianapolis, 99.5 on the dial. I work on Sunday August 13th in the afternoon. I love part-time radio, and I love working in Indy.
I gave my best to radio, and I am proud of the ratings, and the people that I met along the way, good and bad.

107.5 has not shown up for auction -- yet. There was a rumor on this board in late 2005 it would be "given" to a non-commercial entity.
