Opie and Anthony Out at WYSP?

O&A mornings on WRFF might make some sense (assuming contracts permitted XM to syndicate to O&A show to a non-CBS station once a CBS station passes on it).

It may be possible for them to work around that - doesn't CC still own a great share of XM?

I believe Clear Channel owns a 3 percent stake in XM and programs ten of its channels.

I don't think so anymore. I don't think that's been the case for a while. The CC channels that run on XM are, I believe, being run pursuant to an agreement to settle some litigation between the two companies. CC added commercials to the channels, and then XM added their own commercial-free format copycat channels, and removed the CC versions from their lists of music channels.

WOW! Man is this thread a train wreck! CC putting a TALK SHOW on a NO-TALK ROCK station? Brilliant!

Can we just get back to bashing Kidd Chris please?

I'll start: Chris picks on overweight Asians and slow people and I would never listen to that filth. He's no Glenn Kalina that's for sure.

They're off YSP's website.

Beat me to it.

While I do like O and A, I'm kinda hoping that WYSP drops them, just for all the ensuing shakeups to happen. Chris to mornings, a new midday replacement, whatever Opie is claiming to have up his sleeve with them resurfacing in Philly soon.

MATT AND HUGGY MIDDAYS.

The 106.1 lineup Mike had a few posts back certainly had my panties moist. Except maybe Henndrie overnights, since his show apparrently has some humor. All I think when i think Coast to Coast is UFO talk and ominous music.

Right now look for Kidd Chris to start working mornings around the week of November 12th, but that is somewhat subject to change.

Opie's quotes (some exact, some slightly paraphrased) this morning:

"(WYSP PD) John Cook isn't returning our calls, he hates us, and is a wussy boy."

"WYSP is a disaster."

"I don't like WYSP anymore."

"Fu** WYSP in their fu**ing fu**holes."

"Once we're off WYSP, we'll only be off the air in Philly TEMPORARILY. Boy, do we have a DOOZY!"

It's fun to listen to :) I've always enjoyed the Opie rants.

Oh my, the XM feed will be a must-listen tomorrow. Too bad that'll be the only place to tune them in! Hopefully, CBS will do the right thing, release them from the contract early and allow the boys to go back to XM fulltime.

I think they should consider pulling a pair from the NJ shore market. Carl and Marty on The Rat. Better ratings than FBHW, which aairs on a Classic Rock station in the market, same or better than O/A. It's dumb and smart and LCD all at the same time.

Ugh, you can still hear them through the online streams of the stations like WXRK/New York on terrestrial radio where the show still airs - for now...

I'd love to see it, but why would CC flip to the same format WYSP just abandoned because their ratings tanked with it?

Oh, and there are DJs on 106.1? ;)

O&A's syndication deal is not strictly through CBS. They are syndicated through Eatman, who sold the show to CBS when the Roth thing went bottom up. He then brokered them to Citadel stations as well.

Interestingly enough, O&A are now heard on more Citadel Stations than CBS stations, although the Audience on the CBS stations is much, much bigger than the Citadel ones.

I sure hope they don't roll out Barsky yet again for AM. His act is old and it failed on so many Philly stations I can't even count them all. Chris is the best choice, plus it'd be pretty entertaining cause I'm sure he won't leave P&S alone.

I think their first choice is to put Kidd Chris in mornings. But if he refuses to go and they can't make him go, they might give Barsky a look. He is under contract, after all. They're already paying him. I think he'd be a terrible fit for the format, though. Despite whatever success he had on Y-100, I think his audience, to the extent he has one, is older now.

If they want music in mornings, they could bring back some of the jocks from the pre-Free-FM days (Matt and Huggy, Couzin Ed, etc.) to do a music show.

On the air today, Opie offered his services for free to any Philly station that would take the show and air it in mornings.

I thought he already had a "card" to play. I wonder if anyone will take him up on his offer. (Also, note, Anthony and Jim Norton didn't officially offer to work for free).

Opie and Anthony Out at WYSP, WHERE TO NEXT?

So, let the speculation begin!!! Would they actually go over to Radio 104.5? Would Clear Channel want them? Would Citadel/ABC make a blockbuster deal to acquire an FM signal? If not to WRFF, I am not sure where they would wind up.

I think that could happen, though I'm not sure how excited the folks who have been listening to 104.5 are going to be about a talk show in the morning.

Citadel is not going to acquire a major Philly FM just to put Opie and Anthony on it. Let's not over-inflate their importance (said the guy posting in an 8 page thread about them that he started). They just barely cracked the top 10 in demo in Philly (though, yeah, they were huge in afternoons, but that was a different show).
