O&A were on the air, they weren't desparate to get back on. They beat Stern to satellite and exceeded all XM expectations. They're currently one of the most listened to shows on the entire XM network. Then CBS needed them back because of the Roth fiasco. You think CBS wanted to have them back after what happened? No, they needed O&A. Let's see, NY, SF, Chicago, and others, plus their own XM channel. Where's Mancow? Wishing Stern would pull him from obscurity. Hoo Hoo.

Stern announced he was going to Sat when he had almost a year and a half left on his Terrestrial deal, they beat him to sat because He had a job and a contract which he could not get out of, and they did not. They DID NOT beat XM expectations it is exactly the opposite, they fell way short of Xm expectations, they began the contract charging an extra 2 dollar premium for the O and OW (dumb idea) and they could not sign enough subscribers to continue the surcgarge so they dropped it, in other words they did not get enough subscribers from the "O and A Army" that they could charge an extra fee, so obviously they fell way short of XM's expectations. Listen I like the O and A show just fine but I hate fans like you who just regurgitate whatever O and A say without ANY CLUE as to what they're talking about. IF you only know what they say you know nothing because O and A are their own biggest fans, you will rarely get the reality of any situation from them it's always through the "O and A always win in the end" prism. Dont be so naive.

O&A went off of premium but it was never because the premium was a failure. Either way, in their current state they are in the top ten shows broadcast out of all XM programming, and that is confirmed by Eric Logan of XM on public record. O&A did land a satellite deal before Howard, period. I wouldn't repeat something that was unverifiable no matter if O&A said it or not. And their success on both XM and FM is a matter of fact, regardless.

The original poster claimed to have inside information to the effect that O & A's radio demise was close at hand--and yet, there they are every morning...so much for this valuable inside information and, I hope, the original poster!

I still don't get how putting them on the main platform = failure. Cable companies don't put upper tier channels on the primary tier because no one's watching. They upgrade channels because they're getting good numbers. Back in September 2005, XM completely got rid of their other premium channel, Playboy Radio. I don't think it was because they were so successful that they don't need the channel anymore. O&A don't really get too much promotion from XM. They're too busy promoting baseball, hockey, and Oprah.

That is not true, Playboy radio signed a deal with Sirius so they just switched carriers. I didnt say O and A were failures BUT they tried to impose a premium on the show which they had to get rid of a few months after they started MEANING not enough people bought the show, so they had to give it away with the regular Xm subscription, there is no debating that, sorry. I said I like O and A, thought the show was A LOT better before but I still admire their staying power but everything that dude was saying was just false, come on man no matter how much you love O and A (and you obviously do by your screen name) you cant just ignore facts man, that's pretty dumb. Also O and A are featured in all of the Xm TV commercials, Oprah isnt because they produced them before they signed the oprah deal, to say they're not promoting O and A is BS, then again they're on Fm everyday now promoting the XM show so that should help. I like O and A Im just not a blind follower like that guy obviously is, come on LivingVirus even you can see that!.

Opie and Anthony weren't that integral to XM back in 2004, especially with Major League Baseball around the corner. If they did have that much confidence in the show, I doubt they would've been put on premium to begin with. Bob Edwards was available to the whole platform right off the bat.

Ok let's use your theory then:: What possible reason could they have been taken off of a subscription channel/premium charge model if they did not do well? It is not logical, if they were signing up people willing to pay the fee, that is an additional revenue stream, and what corporation has ever said no to additional money?..... that company does not exist. They tried to charge extra for the show, they did not get enough people who wanted the show enough to want to pay for it so XM was forced to stop charging the additional fee for the show. You cant argue that one man, it is inarguable!. Ergo they did not exceed XM expectations, they fell short of them sicne they EXPECTED that they could sign up listeners andd charge them a fee for the show, not enogh went for it, the fee was dropped, end of duscission. It is like you are trying to argue that the sky is not blue, some things are just absolute. This is not opinion, as I've stated I like the show, it's just how it is aka fact.
