Marv-L.A. said:KHKS and Boston's WXKS are two extremely successful top 40 stations, and KHKS's ratings dominance in all demos (while decapitating onetime market leader Urban K-104--KKDA--in the process) is mind-boggling.
If they can play a killer track from 1988 with no harm to the station and still boast exceptional 25-54 numbers for a top 40 station, so much the better!!!!
Well said. It is hard to criticize KHKS when they have great numbers in so many demos.
I have no problem with it, as long as it is no more than a few times a day during the midday/afternoons and you are still pounding your best currents about 90 minutes apart. I vote YES, don't be afraid about playing gold!
Among some of the late 80s/90s gold I have seen on KHKS this week are:
Sir Mix-A-Lot "Baby Got Back"
Bon Jovi "You Give Love A Bad Name"
Red Hot Chili Peppers "Under The Bridge"
Real McCoy "Another Night"
Lit "My Own Worst Enemy"
Edwin McCain "I'll Be"
Shai "If I Ever Fall In Love Again"
Aaliyah "Are You That Somebody?"
Candyman "Knockin' Boots"
Goo Goo Dolls "Iris"
Def Leppard "Pour Some Sugar On Me"
Selena "Dreaming Of You"
