I really dont like this - the sound quality allready sucks - get rid of 1/2 the traffic/weather channels.

Oprah isnt worth that much.

XM happily signs the talk show host WITHOUT a felony rap sheet. Good move XM

Who are you referring to?

Will it make a difference that they have Operah? Meh. A couple of soccer moms will subscribe.

Why are they building her a new studio? You mean to tell me that they couldn't arrange something with a facility in Chicago?

I would assume he's referring to Snoop.

In my opinion, wrong sir. The traffic channels have helped me immensely. I am in a market that is not covered by the traffic channels, but when I travel to the big cities, I find it to be a great service to know well before my trip begins, so I can allocate more time to the trip.

It is a great service to have.

It's not sir, it's from a 15 year old kid with spiked hair who would like to see the traffic service terminated.

http://www.traffic.com/ and http://www.nws.noaa.gov is all you need.

Hearing digital artifacts on the music channels ruins the experence of listening on it on a really nice stereo. Reminds me of a bad mp3, and totally shatters that CD quality bs that they are pushing...

Besides, local radio has to have SOME purpose....
______________

Do you ever get tired of stereotyping people on a radio message board?

Mr. SrhECKKK, How are you? Hey what's happening man.
You must have to agree on here, that at times I have read stupid suggestions as far as posts are concern.
I myself happen to find traffic/weather channels very useful many times. Especially when I'm on the road or occasionally out of town. Yes I assumed that it had to be a teenager who made the above suggestion or comment to get rid of the traffic/weather stations...because the world to him on the whole radio spectrum has to be filled with rap/hip hop or alternative. Something you seem to have a bleeding heart for.

Obviously he has no need to what is happening around the world as far as news, information, or current events, or the working world commuters. So his knee -jerk reaction is dump the traffic/weather, or anything that is primarily spoken word only. And let the world be today's party music.

So I hope you can relate to my situation when I read certain posts. Oh by the way... the incense is in the mail.

I do relate to that, and fortunately or unfortunately XM has tried to be everybody's stations. I don't understand why XM or sirius didn't negotiate for mor bandwidth in the first place. Especially when they planned to put over 100 channels on in the first place.

I shed no love loss for rap or alternative music....bring on the doo wop & pre Beatles rock n roll!

I dont wish other formats be wiped out - I just wish that XM would realize that there isnt enough bandwith for "CD-Quality" and traffic & weather.

Irony - was at KYW for Newsstudies and used XM for the traffic and weather....

BTW...correctamundo on the teenager thing. But what baord do I mod for again..:)
______________

A 15 year old who wants the traffic stations killed so they can listen to Oprah? er, um....

Wont Oprah's fans be disapointed that they are only going to get her for a half hour a week and only for 39 weeks a year. Oh I forgot you get to have all her "friends". I don't know how she managed to get a deal like this but more power to her.

Interesting observation. Similar to one of Mr. Stern's.

Sirius has 10 Traffic/Weather channels for each large Metropolitan area in the country, and one channel for Emergency info.
