"Outrage of the Day" no longer mentioned by Mcphee

When Michele Mcphee was starting up on WRKO after being non renewed by 96.9 she was doing her "outrage of the day" at the end of the 1:00 hour, and promoting the segment heavily on her FB page.

That didn't last long... now the question is did WRKO pull the plug on it or did they get a cease and desist letter from Michele's former employer claiming that it was Greater Media's intellectual property?

Anybody venture to take a guess? I'm leaning towards Cease & Desist.

and what pops up on her FB page 10 minutes after I started this thread?

Michele Mcphee
You are not going to want to miss the Outrage of the Day at 2:35 p.m. on AM 680 WRKO... Crazy!

I'm was wrong (again)

She was very outraged about the Animal Rescue League flying dogs to Boston from PR on Thursday. Now that Charlieeee Mannninng is off the air, she is without question the worst talk host in the market. I tune in now and then just to count the mistakes and outright factual errors that stumble out of her mouth.

This weeks Herald column contained 3 factual errors. Rather than trying to be a talk host, Fox 25 personality, Herald columnist, author and movie consultant maybe she should concentrate on doing one job really well. What that would be is anyones guess.

Estrogen deficiency.

she makes factual errors all the time

She rants about antennas in "Eastie" (the tough girl from Stoneham is now a city girl) but no matter how many times she is told about FCC regulations on 1 meter dishes or "OTARDS" she insists it is a local issue.

She was wining about a proposed MA law giving 24 hours of time off for parents to deal with a childs schooling, guess what Michele the law already exists, it is called the small necessities act, but since she has no knowledge of employment law and didn't bother researching the subject. I guess show prep is an option there.

the list goes on.....

Her rant should be " Why let facts get in the way of my point of view".
How can anyone in charge of a radio station hire her?

Wow! The liberals attack en masse when her name is mentioned. What I can't take is that hideous Boston accent. I agree with most of what she says, just not how she says it.

I am not glad I am the only one who knows she plays loose with the facts. And my dislike for her has nothing to do with her voice or political philosophy. One many social issues she is fairly liberal. My problem is she doesn't not what she is talking about half the time.

1. In this weeks Herald column about the appointment of a new Suffolk County Register of Probate, she identified Boston City Councilor Maureen Feeney as an At Large Councilor, when she is fact a District Councilor. There are only 4 At Large Councilors. You would think that someone writing for a major metropolitan paper and who claims to have politicians on her speed dial could get this right.

2. She said Gov. Patrick should appointment an outsider who he could get confirmed by the Governors Council. Whoever is selected will not have to go before the Council for confirmation. I don't know where she dreamed that up.

3. She also lead her readers to believe that Suffolk County Criminal Court Clerk Maura Hennigan "landed" her current post by appointment, when in fact she won the position by running in a contested election for the office.

She regularly said on the air that former State Transportation Secretary Jim Aloisi and several State Senators violated The Open Meeting Law by meeting to discuss transportation reform. The State Senate is exempt from the Open Meeting Law. This is another point she just pulled out of the air.

I could go on all day,.but as I have said before she is a Jack of All Media Trades and a Master of Nothing.

Hey VMORRISON,
I agree with you 100 percent!
I was too lazy to point out some of the things you wrote.
What is your opinion if you or someone called in and tried to dispute her 'facts'?

She gets all bent out of shape and drops the call and then blabs on about what a jerk they were. At least that's what she did on WTKK.

On 96.9 she had a Its my ball and If I get mad I am going to take my ball and run in the house attitude. I heard a guy call in to RKO this past week and disagree with her on Deval's new book. She actually gave the guy some time. Although he wasn't making a good argument. She admitted she was jealous of the 1.3 million dollar advance he got from his publisher.

I called in one night when she was all over the place pulling figures out of the air on Legislators salaries. She accused me of being a State House hack and moved to the next caller.

As for being a badge bunny, I was working in NYC while she was at the Daily News and she had the reputation of being a two bit reporter who just hung around the Houses, cozied up to cops for info and protected them at every turn.

Look up a Boston Magazine story she wrote about the BPD. She claimed an Officer was unjustly suspended and failed to point out that Officer broke a suspects jaw and was charged with intimidating a witness.

I have no problem with her hosting a talk show and writing a column. But I do have a problem when the Herald uses her as a regular reporter. She regularly called the MBTA Chairman and The Sec. of Transportation names on her talk show and then the Herald and ABC Online used her to cover the Trolley Car accident at Government Center last spring. I really don't think she brought an unbiased attitude to that story.

btw I heard Avi mention yesterday that on the week of 2/21, Howie is on vacation and Avi is doing M, W, and F. Col Hunt had a heart attack recently and prob will be unavailable to do T and Th (but who knows) and I wonder if McPhee would do Howie's show (who'd do hers, though?) on those days, or someone else. Up until about a yr ago Jeff Katz would have been available but now he's
on Rush Radio of course.

Who wouldn't be jealous of the advance Deval got though Howie had said that about 400k copies of the gov's book would have to be sold to make up for the advance, whereas Howie was saying his own Brothers Bulger was a NY Times bestseller and made him quite a bit of money after the adv.
got paid off, and his own book comes out in April as well (Hitman).

she's at it again, saying a cop had an "unregistered gun"

Hey Michele, there is NO law (MA state or federal) that requires guns to be registered, there IS a law that requires transactions to be recorded, but it is not all encompassing "gun registration"

Don't let the facts get in the way of your rants Michele!

When you start to add up all the small errors and then add them to the two or three big ones she makes on a regular basis it is plain to see she simply doesn't care about facts and is so busy with her six jobs she doesn't have the time or interest in doing some research into the subjects she is talking about.

Years ago, the Boston Phoenix got into a major beef with Herald Gossip columnist Norma Nathan. Each week until she retired the Phoenix would publish a column correcting all the errors Norma had made in her daily column.

If I had the time I would love to create a blog that would point out all the glaring errors she makes.

I understand that her radio gig has become harder because several times a month, I would hear her doing the same topic and making the same points that Carr had made on his afternoon show. It is if her show prep consisted of listening to Howie every day. Now that she precedes Carr she doesn't have that luxury.

When we heard that Col. Hunt had his heart attack I thought, well the fill-ins for the time being will be Avi and, I guess, Michele. Sure enough, Howie mentioned that next week while Avi will be
on Mon, Wed, and Fri in for the Cap'n, Michele will hold down the fort on Tue and Thu.

Not sure who's doing her show (unless she feels like doing 1-7 pm!) :)
