"Outrage of the Day" no longer mentioned by Mcphee

vmorrison said:
When you start to add up all the small errors and then add them to the two or three big ones she makes on a regular basis it is plain to see she simply doesn't care about facts and is so busy with her six jobs she doesn't have the time or interest in doing some research into the subjects she is talking about.

Eagn and Bruade, Howie, Graham, Felger are all great to listen to, gues what they all amke mistakes each day too. Why not threads for them?

Scranton you are missing the point. I was to kind when I used the word mistake. I am not talking about mispronouncing a name or messing up a commercial, I am talking about a pattern of pulling figures out of the air, making up facts to support her argument and showing little knowledge of the subject she is talking about unless it has something to do with police procedure.

She doesn't prepare for her show, she can not conduct an interesting interview and she bullies anyone who dares to disagree with her. She is without question, the worst regular full time talk host who as ever worked in this market.

Please start a thread if you would like to critique E and B, Howie, Graham or Felger

On McPhee's reporting accuracy, note that the Massachusetts Appeals Court issued a decision today in the matter of LaChance v. Boston Herald, which contained the following:

"In 2005, the defendant Boston Herald published three newspaper articles on the topic of online "dating" by incarcerated felons, written by defendant Michelle McPhee. The first article stated that the plaintiff had been convicted of manslaughter, and the latter two asserted that the plaintiff claimed in his advertisement to be in prison for manslaughter. The third article also suggested that the plaintiff had instead committed a "brutal sexual attack on an elderly woman." The defendants concede that the foregoing assertions were factually inaccurate in that the plaintiff was not in prison for manslaughter, did not claim to be so in his advertisement, and did not commit a crime against an elderly victim."

Oops...

Those are the allegations of a convicted felon in a lawsuit that he lost against the Herald and Mcphee. Read the whole decision. But once again it looks like she was playing fast & loose with the facts, and the guy lost his case by his own actions ( misrepresentation of facts) and the fact someone decided he was some sort of a "public person" which I disagree with 100%.

"Though the Herald admitted the inaccuracies, the Appeals Court found that the statements were not actionably false and were not made with actual malice."

If the court had not ruled him a public person, the burden of proof would have been lower and he would have cleaned their clocks

I had an opportunity to tune into the last half hour of todays McPhee show and was treated to 2 Outrages of the Day.

She was outraged that John Tierney's wife reported to prison two weeks early and denied the media of a "perp walk." Getting a pic of a person arriving at prison is not called a perp walk but that is a small point. But, I didn't know that prisoners could decide when to start serving their sentence and were under obligation to alert the press when they would be surrendering.

She was also all worked up that the friends of convicted felon Wilkerson held a going away party for her at Grove Hall. McPhee told the audience that Grove Hall was a city owned building an wondered if Mayor Mennio gave the hall to Wilkerson "on the arm." Like Faneuil Hall, Grove Hall is regularly rented out to private groups for functions. McPhee assured us that she would call City Hall to find out if Wilkerson's friends got the place for free. One would think that she would have made this call before going on the air. She continued to claim that Wilkerson got the hall for free and as a East Boston resident and taxpayer she paid for the party. She had no evidence that the City would be stupid enough to provide a convicted felon with free use of a city building but that didn't stop her from giving the audience that impression or bothering to check her facts.

Ya, she is a piece of work. Brags about her "Harley" which she admittedly barely ever rides, and how she is from the mean streets of "Eastie" - LOL :D And what a man-hater! She has called for a male who cheated on his spouse to get a "Dorchester blanket party" (aka a beating), when a woman cheats is is somehow OK and probably the man's fault! ::)

Sec of State Bill Galvin held a press conference yesterday announcing that based of the US Census data, Boston had lost a significant number of residents. Later in the day he had to hold a second Press conference to report that his office had made a mistake with the data and corrected the error. Granted this should not have happened. However, McPhee has spent the last hour accusing Galvin of overseeing widespread voter fraud based on yesterdays error and the fact that she doesn't know anyone who voted for Suzanne Bump or Steve Grossman. That is her evidence.

One caller called in to say that she knew that there was someone in the background that rigged the election for Deval Patrick to keep there job. McPhee's response to this nutty caller was " You are absolutely right"

McPhee also thinks Patrick should be prosecuted under the RICO act for criminal conspiracy because some of Patrick's campaign contributors were given state jobs.

Can someoen please tell me how is this woman still on the air?

>> she doesn't know anyone who voted for Suzanne Bump or Steve Grossman

Maybe it depends on whom one hangs around with. I think the NY Times Judith Crist once said she couldn't understand how Nixon won in '72. "I didn't know anyone who voted for him." (And the bumper stickers here read NIXON 49, AMERICA 1)

She's on the air because RKO wants somebody local (not with the best of voices) in that slot and
she was made available when TKK let her go (or they couldn't agree to a contract). They can say,
"Hey, we have a Herald columnist with several true crime books, etc." Who else could they put on,
a Republican political consultant? Oops...been done (C. Manning; unless they want to give
Holly Robichaud of the Herald a shot...)

Like Todd Fienberg I hear she works cheep. Given the loss of may small suburban stations that at one time provided a farm system for large market stations there is a shortage of talent. I always thought Adam Rielly (now at WGBH) and David Bernstein of the Phoenix would have made a great mid day team. Holly The Lone Republican couldn't handle a show on her own.

Yesterday, Michele was all worked up about a panel discussion at Northeastern Law School featuring Chuck Turner. She kept wondering whether the participants were paid for their appearance and on several occasions without knowing if it was true was outraged that tuition money would be going to pay the panelists. I don't understand why she didn't call Northeastern before going on the air to get the answer to her question.

In her second hour she criticized indicted lawyer Robert George for showing up in court wearing a pull over sweater. George was arrested at is home and brought to court. I doubt the DEA Agents who arrested him offered him the opportunity to run upstairs to change into something more presentable.

Apparently, she'd rather gossip then find out facts.
I guess she's also a fashion expert too!
Maybe a new Facebook page called ' Michele know it all'
will be up soon.
