Overheard on 102.9 FM

Good question.
1. They could just shut it off (not likely)
2. Simulcast another station (temporarily)
3. There's already an LMA with another broadcaster

There's no reason for iHeartMedia to shut off the station if they're going to sell it. However, it's possible that they worked out an LMA with another broadcaster.

Hoping it'll go back to Country like the old Q-Country days, but it could be anything and everything...including another Spanish station. Or something geared towards Thurston and Lewis County and not so much Tacoma.

re: speculation about comedy placeholder on 102.9:
Fair enough, Mike. Guess I get the Clueless award. Busy enough with my Internet radio station that I never noticed the deletion of that format. And most people didn't notice its existence.

Hmm, KUBE on HD2. Yes, smart move. Any idea what is going to happen to the existing Kids Soundtrack Radio that's there now?

You can still listen to 24/7 Comedy on iHeartRadio, since iHeartMedia only ended terrestrial distribution of the network.

Interesting, with Grover Washington Jr.'s 'Mister Magic' on right now. What an odd set of events - KMPS going Soft AC, now KFNY going even softer. Could Warm be in for a wake-up call come 12/26? I really think this is just a placeholder until someone (Bustos?) buys out 102.9 and flips it to the permanent format.
Calling it 'The South Sound's Smooth Jazz Station.' Still cool to hear on a regular FM frequency in almost 2018. Very few left, WSBZ, WEIB and KOAZ are others.
EDIT - mixing some format-friendly Christmas music as well. Now 'The Christmas Song' by Dave Koz & Friends is playing at 12:28 PT.
